Verizon is likely to owe Apple $14 Billion
A recent marketing research discovered that Verizon may end up owing Apple 14 billion dollars for selling less iPhones than it committed to do in 2013.
According to Craig Moffett, a telecommunications analyst, in 2010 Verizon signed an agreement with Apple to sell iPhones worth 23.5 billion dollars during 2013 alone. However, the figures of 2012 show that Verizon failed to fulfill the commitment by two times. This will undoubtedly influence the dividends, as the 12-1 billion means 4-5 dollars of each share.

Google and Apple seems to be improving their relationship. It is proved by Google's chairman Eric Schmidt, who says : "These are two proud, well-run, different companies."
Apple and Google met on Allen and Company Sun Valley Conference where tech moguls meet every year. In fact, the two companies have always been quite close as the CEOs, Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs knew each other for years. Eric Schmidt was even one of Apple’s directors, before Android OS was launched and they competition with Apple began.
iPad trade-in by BestBuy
This Friday and Saturday Best Buy is launching a trade-in program for iPads. You can get a 200$ or more gift card for bringing in your iPad 2 or 3. The gift cards can be used in offline or online stores.
Best Buy has already had experience with trade-in programs. It launched one for iPhones, and it was an instant success. However, Best Buy has not commented whether they will offer trade-ins in the future or not.
Disney honors Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs is getting the 2013 Disney Legends Award. It will take place on D13 Expo, a memorable three-day-long event. This Disney tradition goes back the year 1987, when Walt Disney Company established this Award.
Steve Jobs changed the world of consumer electronics as the founder of Apple, and was known throughout the world for his visionary attitude and penchant for innovation. He was an early investor and chief executive of Pixar, and became the Walt Disney Company’s largest shareholder overnight when it acquired Pixar Animation Studios in 2006. That same year, he joined the Disney board of directors, and remained a valuable sounding board and advisor to the company until his passing in 2011.
According to Bob Iger, Disney Chair and CEO, the Disney Legend Award is the highest honor for those, who “push the limits of innovation and creativity.”
Facebook is updated
The new updated Facebook version boasts verified accounts, better place editing and fixed bugs.
Facebook is the most wide-spread social network. Its iOS app helps you to keep in touch with your friends wherever they are, share pictures and videos, comment and like different posts and even play games.
In the updated version you will be able to find verified celebrities, public figures and brands (verified accounts have a blue check mark next to the name), improved places editing to fix categories, phone numbers and other info on iPad and a fixed a problem of slow News Feed loading.
Apple and Amazon end App Store dispute
According to Reuters, Apple has decided to end its lawsuit with Amazon about App Store name. Cupertino company did this on condition Amazon does not countersue.
U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton in Oakland, California, on Tuesday ordered the case be dismissed at the companies' request.
Amazon was sued by Apple in March 2011. The Cupertino company wanted to prevent Amazon from using the "App Store" name, as customers could get confused by the double use of App Store name.
Apple conspires to raise e-books price
On the 20th June US District Judge Denise Cote ruled that Apple conspired to raise the retail prices of e-books, says Reuters report. The publishers Macmillan and Penguin, names co-defendants, set the price of each book and gave the seller a 30% cut instead of using traditional wholesale models.
According to Eddy Cue, Apple's SVP of Internet Software and Services, the prices for iBookstore have grown due to inflation. The statement does not help Apple much, especially when Mr. Cue is considered the head of the conspiracy.
iPhone 5S will boast a 120 FPS Slow Motion Camera?
Every new iPhone always features its own unique points, completely different from what its predecessors had. In case of iPhone 5S there are quite a few. The rumored fingerprint scanner is followed by another development – a 120FPS slow motion camera. It is believed that iPhone 5S will also boast really cool camera pack, including a dual LED flash and a 13MP sensor.
Currently Apple is designing a new camera feature for iPhone. It is a mode called “Mogul”. The latter will enable iPhone to capture video in a fast and precise way, at a rate of 120 frames-per-second (FPS). Unfortunately, the resolution of the 120 FPS is still unclear.
Apple's New Patent for a Car Touchscreen Dashboard
Apple was reportedly awarded a patent for a "Programmable tactile touch screen displays and man-machine interfaces for improved vehicle instrumentation and telematics". It was granted on Tuesday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and its number is 8,482,535.
Apple Is at #19 in the Fortune's Global 500 List
According to the Fortune’s latest annual list of the world’s most successful companies, Apple ranks #19. As to the top five spots, they are occupied by such corporations as Royal Dutch Shell, Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobil, Sinopec Group and China National Petroleum.
HP Printers help Apple boost sales
Before 2012, one could get a 100$ discount on HP Printer when buying a Mac. The promotion stopped when printers became less popular and customers switched to digital access of documents through portable devices.
Now Apple is revitalizing the HP Printers promotion program and offers instant discount on 5 Printer models. The discount varies from 10$ to 70$.
Apart from this sales booster, Apple gives such incentives 50$ or 100$ gift card to be used in iTunes Store/App Store for educational customers when buying an iPhone/iPad or a new Mac.
iPhone reaches Android sales in May
According to recent market research, carried out by Kantar Worldpanel, Android remains the leader in smartphone market with 52% share. Apple is market challenger with 41,9 %, which is 3,5% higher than over the same period last year.
iOS success is put down to the agreement of T-Mobile to work with iPhone 5. The carrier picked up its best-selling smartphone only in the middle of April, but since then the sales have increased considerably. Currently 31% of carrier’s models are iPhones.
iPhone 5 sells twice as fast as Galaxy 4
According to a recent market research, Samsung spent twice as much time to ship 20 millions Galaxy 4 units as Apple for shipping the same amount of iPhone 5.
Judging by official opening weekend numbers and quarterly earnings reports, it took Apple 25 days to ship 20 million items, a month less than Samsung figure. Moreover, over the launch period Apple shipped 805,000 units per days, whereas Samsung sold half as many, about 333,000.

Offline voice dictation for iOS
Apple is following Android’s experience of installing offline voice dictation programs. Nowadays, California-based company is carrying out tests of this version for iOS.
Before Apple’s voice-to-text function required Internet connection. It made the process slow and out-of-date. The system uploaded a recording to a converter and then downloaded the text version to the device.
Future iOS versions will allow users to convert voice into text offline. So the process will be much quicker. However, it means that users will dispose of less storage place.
