Apple Seeds iOS 7 GM to Developers

Apple’s developers can now freely download iOS 7 GM (stands for Gold Master). This is the final version of the Apple’s most recent and yet unreleased operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. As it was previously announced, iOS 7 will become available for ordinary users on September 18th.

You need to note, however, that if you currently have any version of the iOS 7 Beta running on your device, you can’t upgrade to a GM seed. The update must be performed through the Apple’s Developer Center and iTunes.

Whether there’s anything new in the iOS 7 GM is still a question. Anyway, I’ll keep you updated.

Safari version for OS X Mavericks will get push notifications. Take a look at the email sent to the developers by the company from Cupertino to make sure I’m not telling lies.

You can now use the Apple Push Notifications Service to send notifications to your website users, right on their Mac desktop — even when Safari isn’t running. Safari Push Notifications work just like push notifications for apps. They display your website icon and notification text, which users can click to go right to your website.

iOS Share of Mobile Web Usage Has Fallen 11%

The latest report from NetApplications shows that Apple’s mobile web share has fallen 11% in the last 12 months. The main reason for such fall is probably the mass production of cheap Android smartphones and tablets that become more and more popular in Europe and Asia. Looks like things aren’t so good for the company from Cupertino.

According to survey results released Sunday, iOS' share of Web usage hit an all-time low of 54.9% in August, down 11 percentage points (16.7%) from the 65.9% it held in August 2012. Android, meanwhile, surged to 28.1% from 21% last year, up 7.1 points (34.3%).

Anyway, there’re still some chances for Apple to get out of serious troubles. Yes, I’m now talking about the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C releases as well as about the two new iPads, which are expected to be unveiled this fall.
