Ringtone Expressions is a free applications, that allows users to create ringtones for iPhone easy and fast. It supports creating ringtones using Drag and Drop from iTunes, from YouTube videos, from your computer’s mic. It also sllows users to share thier ringtones via Facebook and Twitter.

Along with iPhone there is support for BlackBerrys and Windows Mobile.

This app allows iPhone 3GS users to detect metal and magnetic flux. Looks nice:

This app costs $0.99 (AppStore link), however there are many free metal detect apps out there (link).

In order to understand the true power of the new iPhone 3GS let's do some tests on the new Apple device using the Backgrounder. You have about 150MB of RAM free, so you can open several applications and games at the same time and get good results. Here's the list:

Quantum Collapse is one of the best games RTS (Real Time Strategy) games for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game was released less than a month ago and has already been updated to version 1.1. Regular price is $3.99, but it is on sal enow for $0.99 (AppStore link). There is also a free lite version (AppStore link).

Features:

• 13 Campaign missions providing more than 8 hours of gameplay
• 11 Skirmish missions with 3 different AI Types.
• Amazing Particle Effects and Explosions
• 2 Completely different factions with unique designs and powers
• Voxel generated terrain (no repetitive tilemaps)
• Map Zoom.
• Each unit has a unique powerup. Some super units have up to 6 of them.
• Spell system enables you to take a huge part in the battle.

In next version developers will implement multiplayer with voice-chat. Note for iPhone 3GS users: the game has graphical glitches on the iPhone 3GS. Developers found the solution and the fix is on it's way.

Ichromo announced Aera, a new game for iPhone and iPod Touch, which will appear soon in App Store. This is a 2.5D flight simulator. Here are some characteristics of Aera:

• Various types of mission and the Free Flight;
• Multiplayer games;

• There are many places and different aircrafts to fly;

Navigon has just released free version of their navigation application. Navigon MobileNavigator Lite includes the same range of functions as the full version, although no active route guidance with GPS support is available. In other words you have the maps and you can just browse without Turn-by-turn directions.

In US AppStore we were able to find and download Navigon MobileNavigator Lite North America. There are many different other apps in different AppStores. For example there is MobileNavigator British Isles in UK AppStore. Unfortunately there is no free Europe in one app.

Who still has not tested the Navigon can do it now. Good download.

How much would it cost to buy all 55,732 apps in the AppStore as of yesterday (7/6/2009)? It is just $144,326.06. Or approximately $2.59 per app, $3.34 if you don't include the free apps (12,538 of them) in the average.

Skype, the application for iPhone and iPod Touch through which you can call and chat for free with your Skype contacts, has been updated to version 1.1. This is an update adds some small improvements and bug fixes.

What's new in version 1.1

• Support for the following languages: English, German, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese, Spanish, Norwegian, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Italian, French, Polish and Japanese.
• Send text (SMS) messages using Skype credit.
• Voicemail support.
• Improved dialing help when calling phones.

Skype is avaliable in AppStore for free (link).

iPhone OS 3.0 is now available. Update via iTunes (you need 8.2) or download here. Firmwares are avaliable for all devices: iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch and iPod Touch 2G. Here is a link to official Apple site about this upgrade.

Do not upgrade if you want jailbreak and/or unlock. Just wait for DevTeam to release their software.

Fring app is updated to a new version. You can download it in AppStore (link). The question is who needs Fring, when we have official Skype app?

The iPhone Blog reports that in the iPhone 3.0 beta firmware, users are being told that may not re-download applications over-the-air without being charged. The dialog box (shown above), however, does indicate that users may still re-download applications for free through their computer.

The SuicideGirls Flip Strip iPhone app is based on the classic nudie pen concept -- with a high tech twist. Flick left and right to choose from 10 sexy girls, then flip your iPhone or iTouch upside down to watch her clothes disappear.

The app is now available for free via AppStore (link).

YXFlash is a new application that is available in Cydia and includes the codecs to display Xvid / DivX video files . We will not longer need to convert movies into a format supported by Apple. The converted videos do play a bit smoother due to hardware acceleration, but xvid videos are watchable, at least the ones I tested. The player also plays flash content if you have downloaded flash flv videos to your device. It is not a web based flash player, this does not play flash videos embedded on websites. In order to add the videos just upload them using iFunBox or iPhone Browser.

Here is the complete list of formats supported by the complete version:

• Windows Media Video (.wmv)
• Xvid/DivX (.avi)
• MP4, MP3, AAC and Windows Media Audio

The free version offers support only for MP3 and DivX. You can download the application via Cydia in the BigBoss repository. The full version costs around $10.
