Gold Apple Watch to Bring Most of Revenue to Apple - Report



As you probably know, the guys from Cupertino are expected to release their long-anticipated Apple Watch in April. There will be several different versions of the wearable device, namely, Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition. Each model will boast of several health-tracking sensors and its own unique design. While the first two modifications of the smartwatch will be relatively cheap and affordable for most U.S., European and Asian customers, the analysts believe that the gold Apple Watch will bring most of the income to Apple. Even though the prices for the device are expected to start at about $4000.

Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 released: iOS 6.0.1 support added



iH8Sn0w released Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 that brings support for tethered jailbreak of iOS 6.0.1. New version supports iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G. It does not work with A5/A6 devices, like iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, etc.

Sn0wbreeze can be used to create a custom firmware with jailbreak and preserve iPhone modem (baseband) version for unlock.

Apple 'confirmed' to hold iPad mini event in October

John Paczkowski of All Things D reported on Saturday that after introducing new iPhone on September 12, Apple will hold a separate event in October to introduce its new, smaller iPad. The anonymous sources who spoke with Paczkowski confirm earlier comments from both Jim Dalrymple of The Loop and John Gruber of Daring Fireball, both of which indicated this week that they expect Apple to hold two separate events for the new iPhone and iPad mini.

Apple may launch next-gen iPhone, 'iPad mini' at two separate media events

Jim Dalrymple, the well-known Apple journalist, reported in his blog on Thursday that Apple may be preparing to debut a next-gen iPhone and 'iPad mini' at two separate media events. Apple is widely expected to debut the sixth-generation iPhone at a special event on September 12, at which time pre-orders are said to begin. Further rumors point to a U.S. rollout starting September 21. Almost nothing is known of the iPad mini. Different report suggests that the smaller iPad will debut at either the same iPhone event or at a later date.

Rumor: LG Display, AU Optronics have passed certification for 'iPad mini' LCD panels

Taiwan's The Liberty Times has recently reported that display makers LG Display and AU Optronics have passed certification tests for LCD panels bound for a rumored "iPad mini" and are now preparing shipments of the panels to Apple. The report also said that Radiant will supply the backlight module.

Author Chen Meiying said that, according to market rumors, the so-called "iPad mini" is expected to come out at the end of the third quarter or into the fourth quarter of this year. 2012 shipment targets were said to be six million units.

Apple reportedly 'noodling with' 7.85-inch iPad prototype

John Gruber of Daring Fireball claims he knows that Apple has a test 7.85-inch iPad with a resolution of 1,024 by 768 in its lab. Though it's not clear if the device will ever see the light of day.

"I've heard from numerous people that that's one of the ideas that they're noodling with," he said.

The height of such a device would be the same as the width of the current iPad. After testing the approximate size using a screenshot rotated into landscape mode, Gruber believes it would be "usable."

Apple Using OpenStreetMap Data in iPhoto for iOS

Following the launch of Apple’s iPhoto for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch application, several reports noted that the mapping integration into the software was not Google-based. With Apple working on an in-house iOS maps product for the last couple of years, Daring Fireball's John Gruber later clarified that maps for Photo Journals and slideshows were coming directly from Apple.

The OpenStreetMap Foundation has now issued a blog post revealing that Apple is using at least some of its mapping data for these features, although it does note that Apple is using outdated mapping data and is not crediting appropriately for its usage.

The new iPhoto for iOS, however, uses Apple’s own map tiles – made from OpenStreetMap data (outside the US). [...]

Sn0wBreeze 2.9 released: brings iOS 5.0.1 untether

iH8sn0w has released new version of popular jailbreak utility Sn0wBreeze 2.9. Sn0wbreeze is used to create a custom firmware with jailbreak and preserve iPhone modem (baseband) version for unlock. New version 2.9 adds support for untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak as well as support for all firmwares supported by previous versions of sn0wbreeze.

For now Sn0wBreeze 2.9 supports untethered jailbreak for iOS 3.1.3, 3.2.x, 4.0.x, 4.1, 4.2.1 - 4.2.8, 4.3 - 4.3.3 and 5.0.1. Supported devices are: iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 2G, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G.
