Apple corners mobile ad market.
iOS products are used to being outnumbered by Android, although Apple manages to become a market leader in advertisement sector. According to a recent study, Apple controls 75% of mobile ads market.
The share of Android is diminishing, as Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones are delivering hardly any impressions.
Ad firm Velti studied the mobile advertising market of Apple and Android, comparing figures of May 2013 to findings from 2012. The share ofCupertinocompany grew by 5%, from 59% to 64%. Whereas Android decreased its presence on the market by 5% to 36%, despite its domination of smartphone shipments. The figures of dynamics are the same, but Android loss cannot be referred to by Apple’s increase in share.
Apple files trademark for the new green FaceTime icon
PatentlyApple reports that Apple has filed a trademark for its new green FaceTime icon that debuted with iOS 7.
Earlier this week Apple filed a trademark application for their redesigned "FaceTime" icon under number 85968558. This is likely to be the beginning of many trademark filings to follow to cover the other new icons.
The trademark filing likely indicates that this icon is set for iOS 7 and won't change.
There is jailbreak for iOS 7
iOS 7 has been jailbroken. Popular iOS developer Ryan Petrich has posted a screenshot which appears to show Activator running on iOS 7.
Earlier today Petrich tweeted saying, "System version too new?". Alongside the tweet was the picture below. The picture shows the Springboard of an iPod touch with an Activator icon and a UIAlert window which reads:
System Version Too New
Activator has not been tested to work with this version of iOS. Some features may not work as designed.
Notably, this alert does not seem to be a UIAlert that could be generated from within a sandboxed application, suggesting that device may be jailbroken.
Here is how future low cost iPhone might look like
New renderings of the low cost iPhone based on recently leaked schematics have been posted online by AppleInsider.com.
On the left side, the volume controls are pill shaped, like the iPod touch, rather than circular, like the iPhone 5. The back corners of the device are also curved, bearing a resemblance to Apple's iPod classic. Aside from those tweaks, the anticipated handset is unmistakably an iPhone, featuring the standard home button and a 4-inch display. The leaked design is slightly thicker than an iPhone 5, and is expected to have a plastic back panel to keep costs down.
Here are the renderings:
Analyst predicts: no iPad Mini Retina this year, it will be released in 2014
DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim has issued a note predicting that the new iPad mini will not feature the Retina display many are expecting.
Apple is expected to refresh its iPad mini in the second half of the year. The new iPad mini will continue to use a 7.9-inch display with a 1024×768 resolution, but it will use the iOS 7 operating system and an A6 processor, in a slimmer design than the current generation. Another iPad mini is also planned for production but not until early 2014. That device is expected to feature a QXGA (2048×1536) resolution display and the iOS 7 operating system.
Hacker Pod2g Says He is 'About to Switch to an Android Device'
Pod2g, the hacker who has been an integral part of the last few jailbreaks, has announced that he is 'about to switch to an Android device' after spending some time testing iOS 7.
After a few days of iOS 7 beta 1 testing, I must admit that I am about to switch to an Android device.
IMHO, this version of iOS is the worst move Apple did in a long time.
iOS 7 design is awful, it's slow, battery life time is the worst ever, it's full of UI bugs and crashes. OK it's beta 1, but still…
I am pretty disappointed by the features I've seen in iOS 7. No revolution here. No big news. Just kid painting.

In fact, Apple’s been proudly putting stickers on its products saying ‘Designed by Apple in California’ for years and has now even made a compelling new ad which focuses in its California design roots.

Revolutionary Graphene Camera Sensor Will Greatly Improve Low Light Photography
Engineers at Nanyang Technological University have developed a revolutionary new camera sensor that is a thousand times more sensitive than the ones currently on the market, reports Science Daily. The sensor is made from graphene and is apparently the first that can detect broad spectrum light from the visible to mid-infrared with high photoresponse or sensitivity.
Graphene is a million times smaller than the thickest human hair (only one-atom thick) and is made of pure carbon atoms arranged in a honeycomb structure. It is known to have a high electrical conductivity among other properties such as durability and flexibility.
