Supplier Denies Shipping iMac Touchscreens to Apple

1
DigiTimes reports that Sintek Photronics has denied claims from late last week that the company has shipped samples of touchscreen panels to Apple for testing in a touch-capable iMac. Barry Wu, VP and spokesperson of Sintek Photronics has denied reports that the company is sampling projected capacitive touch panels for Apple's iMac. Rumors  appeared after new Apple patent application, which suggested that the company is at least toying with the idea of a touch-capable iMac. It has been suggested that the company could instead a fully touch-capable Mac OS X offer iOS as layer on top of Mac OS X, allowing both operating systems to coexist on the same machine.

Jailbreaking of New Apple TV Eased by iTunes Restore Capabilities

1

Twitter user with nickname StealthBravo recently confirmed that the new Apple TV can be restored in iTunes as well as any iOS device, easing the way for jailbreakers to bring new functionality to the set-top box. This means that the hackers soon be able to offer us tools, as they currently do for other iOS devices, to save SHSH blobs, jailbreak the Apple TV, and install 3rd party software.

Moreover, Apple TV offers a Micro-USB port for connectivity, but the port also offers a means for users to physically connect the device to computers to employ the techniques required for jailbreak of operating system.

itunes

Average iTunes operation costs nearly $75 million dollars per month. This is more than double 2009′s average monthly costs. The rise is credited to the new features Apple has recently implemented into iTunes as well as the 18 million apps downloaded each day. That’s roughly 200 apps per second.

iPhone 4 Antenna Problem Solved?

500x_500x_mind-the-gap-image

Telcel, a Mexican mobile operator, claims that the iPhones 4 coming out in late September won’t have the infamous antenna problem anymore.

Until September 30, Telcel customers (as well as US users) can still get free iPhone 4 cases. Meanwhile, Apple have been working hard on solving the problem, trying to find a hardware solution that won’t hide the antenna but will either react differently with skin or coat the antenna.

Although still only a rumor, it’s an interesting and promising announcement.

World’s Most Advanced Machinery Was Reason For Apple’s Liquidmetal Deal

l2

Apple’s recent deal with Liquidmetal Technologies will give it access to the most advanced manufacturing machinery on the planet. And probably Apple will soon start experimenting with a new machine.

  • It may allow Apple to make advanced iPhone antennas and seamless gadget cases with holographic logos cast right into the metal.
  • Made for the aerospace industry, it would have undergone several rounds of cutting, milling, drilling, threading, deburring, routing and sandblasting. Instead, the part was cast in one operation and requires no further processing.
  • The alloys, also known as bulk metallic glasses, are as strong as titanium but use only one-third of the material. It can be mixed with very small amounts of precious metals to make jewelry-like finishes, or optimized for functions such as an antenna. Liquidmetal is scratch and corrosion proof, and resistant to greasy marks. You get fingerprints all over them and they just disappear.

New Jailbreak for iOS Devices is Browser-Based

BrowserJailbreak

Starting today every owner of iPad, iPhone or iPod can easily jailbreak his device via browser on http://jailbreakme.com/

The site was created in a week after decision of the Library of Congress (that operates the Copyright Office), which states that jailbreaking isn't illegal, though Apple claims it actually represents a threat to the stability and security of the company's devices. Apple also says that jailbreaking voids the warranty, but such an action can be easily undone by resetting a device to the default factory settings.

Site JailbreakMe.com easily became a trending topic in Twitter after its announcement on RedmondPie.com. The jailbreak itself was created by hacker comex, and the website was done by chpwn and westbaer.
