While many of the iOS developers are currently playing around with iOS 5 beta 5 it looks like we may expect 6th beta... today!

Last week iCloudil.com found that one of the files of iOS 5 beta 5 had been remotely updated by Apple. After the release of iOS 5 beta 5 the update file was created on “2011-08-17”, but now it shows the date of “2011-08-18” which means Apple has postponed the update date by a day.

Though it can be considered as an iTunes’ check for update date, there are many chances this is a date for a new iOS 5 update, since the iOS 5 updates come fortnightly.

We have already heard many rumors about upgrade of Apple’s smartphone line this fall, as well as information about the release of next-generation tablet. Also rumors about launch of iPod touch with 3G modem have been circulating. But we forgot that upgrade of all iPod line is planned on September.

Since a raid on Russian payment processing company ChronoPay two month ago, there was not much work for malware defense system of OS X , but a new trojan horse did emerged earlier this month. According to F-Secure, the trojan called "OSX.QHost.WB.A" disguises itself as a Flash Player installer and adds records to a file on the computer’s host to redirect users trying to visit some of Google sites. The server in Netherlands shows a fake webpage that is very similar to the real Google site.

It is known that Apple upgraded from Toshiba SSDs to Samsung drives in the current MacBook Air line. Today Anandtech wrote that the Samsung PM810 (customized version of the drive that will work in the 2011 MacBook Air) was considerably upgraded in the latest refresh.

Google has released an update for its Google+ application for iOS devices, including iPod touch and iPad, which previously were unavailable in this app. Also this update includes improvements in huddle settings, aggregated circle add notifications and usual improvements in performance and stability.

The iPhone Dev-Team released RedSn0w 0.9.8b5 that supports tethered jailbreak for the most recent iOS 5 beta 5:

redsn0w has been updated to 0.9.8b5, adding support for Apple's new iOS5 beta5 (point it directly at the beta5 IPSW). Please use this only if you're a jailbreak app developer with a legit Apple dev account, and remember it's a tethered jailbreak for now!

Apple has just released iOS 5 Beta 5 to developers. Alongside the new firmware comes Xcode 4.2 Developer Preview 5 and iTunes 10.5 beta 5.

Developers can download it here or update via OTA (over the air). Prior OTA all content and settings on the device must be erased (Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). The delta update is just 128MB.

It is well known that iPad is a fine gaming device. And it looks like Apple is going to improve iPad’s entertainment capabilities as it is a new trend nowadays. According to MacRumors, Apple’s 15-inch notebook featuring an ultra-thin design is undergoing final testing. It is unknown yet whether this 15-inch notebook will be presented as an extension of MacBook Air line or a model of a redesigned MacBook Pro line. This week Amazon updated its Kindle app for iOS in order to meet Apple’s in-app purchase terms and keep its place in the App Store. Apart from removing links to the Kindle Store, new update introduced about 100 newspaper and magazine subscriptions for iOS.

The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.8b3 which can perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.4. This means that you will have to connect your device to a computer and run redsn0w each time you restart.

For the convenience of kernel hackers like @comex and @i0n1c, we have a new redsn0w 0.9.8b3 that supports a TETHERED jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 on all devices that have 4.3.4 except the iPad2. The vast majority of people will want to stay back at 4.3.3 because that's where the untethered jailbreak is! There are no new features in 4.3.4 - only fixes for jailbreak exploits.

Also, this is a good time to remind everyone (since we're still seeing confusion about this): iPad2 owners with a baseband (3G or CDMA) cannot currently use saved blobs to go back to 4.3.3 once the signing window is closed. This is unlike every other device, so don't be confused! iPad2 owners with basebands should stay away from all updates to maintain your jailbreak!

This jailbreak works with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. It does not work with iPad 2.
