WWDC Banners Ever For The Last 10 Years [Photos]





Every year thousands of Apple developers flock to San Francisco to attend Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference to be educated in all things Apple. Over the past decade the conference has undergone some big changes as Apple has introduced products like the iPhone, Mac Pro, Intel Processors, Mac OS X operating systems, and much more. An event that used to be lightly attended has now become the most popular developers conference in the world and sold out within 2 hours this years.

Apple Replacing Google Maps On iOS With Its Own Solution Later This Year

You’ve obviously heard that Apple is going to refresh its Maps application in the forthcoming iOS6 and move away from Google Maps that Apple has used since the launch of the iPhone in 2007, replacing it by the company’s own service.

The Wall Street Journal chronicles the last five years that have saw Google and Apple going from best of corporate friends to sworn enemies spending a great deal of time disparaging each other in courts. The latest confrontation seems to be closely connected with Maps.

Siri Reportedly Coming to iPad with iOS 6

9to5Mac reports that one of the features in forthcoming iOS 6 is Siri version for the iPad. Currently Apple’s voice assistant is supported only by the iPhone 4S. As for the new iPad, the device has dictation with voice recognition, but not seeing the inclusion of full Siri support at its launch earlier this year.

'Greatly enhanced' iOS Maps, upgraded Camera & Photos apps expected at WWDC

At this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) Apple is likely to present new software features in iOS and OS X, and refresh its Mac line up.

Analyst Shaw Wu said on Friday that a new Maps application in iOS to be unveiled at WWDC later this month will be a "greatly enhanced" version with 3D capability. The app was internally developed by Apple and allows the company to move away from Google.

Google Is Going To Demonstrate ‘Next Dimension’ Of Maps On June 6

Apple ordering screens sized at least 4" for next iPhone

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Apple began placing orders for a new, larger screen (it will measure "at least 4 inches diagonally") for the next iPhone. Production of the screens is set to begin in the next few months.

Rumors have suggested for some time that the next iPhone will be a major redesign, overhauling the look of the handset that has remained since the launch of the iPhone 4 in mid-2010. A larger screen would be a major change for the device, and could require developers to update their applications to take advantage of the larger display.

Retina-displays Will Add Up To 100$ To MacBook Pro Costs

According to CNET’s report, "Retina" or "HiDPI" displays widely rumored to be used in MacBook Pro models are now available in the supply chain and they costs up to 100$ more than existing non-Retina displays.

Senior Analyst in DisplaySearch Richard Shim said that a 15.4-inch Retina display with 2880x1800 resolution and 220 ppi density currently costs about $160, compared to the 68$ Apple spends on displays in current 15-inch MacBook Pro models.

Apple To Update iCloud With New Photo Sharing Feature

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple plans to announce an upgrade to its iCloud service at Worldwide Developers Conference next months. The refreshed service will allow iCloud users to share photos with each other and comment on them. Now, users can only store photos via a Photo Stream feature that is capable to sync photos with other Apple devices, but not to share them.

Apple Will Use In-House Mapping Service In iOS 6

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is going to move away from Google Maps in iOS 6 by implementing an in-house mapping service with 3D views. The report notes that Apple’s purchases of mapping companies Poly9 and Placebase are ready to pay off, with the recent acquisition of 3D mapping company C3 Technologies complementing the suite of services.

Facebook Unveils App Center For All Devices And Platforms

Facebook announced the launch of a new App Center that will offer Facebook users Android, iOS, desktop, web and mobile web apps. Facebook said that it is not directly competing with Google and Apple as the App Center will forward users to both the Android and iOS platforms. So, for example, if you are visiting the App Center from an iPhone, and enter Words with Friends, or other Facebook-compatible games, you will be sent to the corresponding app’s page on the App Store for installation.
