Almost every iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch user faces a problem of listening music at home. Some use headphones, others listed through embedded speakers, however everybody wants to connect their gadget to some loud high quality home stereo system.

There tons of dock stations for various players and smartphones including ones for iPhone and iPod. However dock stations allow users to plug in just a single set of devices due to connection port incompatibilities. Even Apple changed it's port when iPhone 5 was released with lightning port. So if you actually bought expensive iPhone 4 dock station and realized you want iPhone 5 - you're in trouble, because a new dock station for iPhone 5 is needed. There are adapters and converters on the market that might help, but the idea is clear - there have to be some technology that would allow us to use different devices from various manufactures including iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, etc. Here comes Bluetooth. It is not just supported by almost all modern smartphones, players, tablets and even notebooks, it also does not require users to physically connect their gadget to a stereo, because it is wireless technology.

Today we want to take a look at Creative D200 - wireless speaker system that supports Bluetooth. While the quality of this device is quite good, the price is attractive as well. You can get one for about $100.

Apple's smart iWatch will launch in mid 2014



KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been fairly accurate regarding Apple hardware releases, claims that Apple's smart watch will not be released until the end of 2014.

Apple may not have adequate resources to develop an iWatch version of iOS because it may require big changes to iPhone and iPad iOS this year. In addition, wearable device components aren’t mature. For these reasons, we think mass production of the iWatch is more likely to begin in 2H14, not 2H13 as the market speculates.

iOS And Android Continue To Dominate The Smartphone Market



Worldwide Smartphone Shipments in Millions of Units

Today research company IDC published a new report for the first quarter of 2013 tracking down shipments of mobile phones by OS.

The report shows that iOS and Android continue to dominate the market with 92,3% of shipments during the quarter. iOS marked its largest 1Q shipment volume with 34.7 million units shipped. iOS’s market share decreased from 23% to 17,3% year over year, while Android increased its market share from 59.2% to 75%.

Philips Updated Its ‘Hue’ Lighting System With A Number Of New Features



Last year Philips released its iOS-controlled "Hue" lighting system that allows users to personalize the lighting experience.

Today Philips announced a major update to the Hue adding many new features. Among the most interesting is integration with IFTTT protocols to allow the system to provide visual alerts for different situations.

Analyst Expects Retina iPad Mini Updates In 3Q 2013 and 1Q 2014



An analyst Richard Shim from NPD DisplaySearch claims (via CNET) that Apple is going to release two updated iPad mini devices.

"We see two refreshes coming. One in the second half of this year, then one in Q1 [first quarter] of 2014," analyst Richard Shim told CNET late Sunday night.

"The Q1 [2014] device will have a Retina display plus an updated processor," Shim added.

Apple Releases iOS 6.1.4 for the iPhone 5 Only



Apple has just released iOS 6.1.4 for the iPhone 5 only that brings an updated audio profile for the speakerphone.

You can download the latest iPhone firmware from here.

This firmware is not jailbreakable yet.

Google Employee Said That Google Now Does Not Drain Battery Life



After Google Search app was updated with the Google Now service last week, many users began reporting that the app was draining iPhone’s battery by constantly accessing Location Services.

Today Google employee posted on the Macworld forum saying that Google Now service does not excessively drain battery.

Jony Ive’s Design Overhaul Could Lead To Delays For iOS 7



Today Bloomberg reported that Jony Ive’s efforts to redesign iOS as part of his new software design role puts Apple at risk of delaying the release of iOS 7. While a public release is said to currently stay on schedule for "as soon as September", internal deadlines in the company has been pushed back as software teams race to finish iOS 7 and prepare a preview for Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Apple Adds “Learn More About In-App Purchases” Page On The App Store



In March, Apple added “offers in-app purchases” warning on the App Store and iTunes after a class action suit was brought by parents claiming that iOS in-app purchase service allowed children to easily spend thousands of dollars.

Swype VP Confirms Discussions With Apple On Its Keyboard Technology



Earlier this week highly popular Swype keyboard become available for users of Android devices on Google Play, but only after the release of Jelly Bean with the built-in Swipe-like Gesture Typing functionality.
