New version of iTunes was released recently and as we wrote in addition to fixing some bugs it has been locked synchronization with the third-party devices, including Palm Pre.

Here is an answer from Tom Neumayr (the same as Apple):

"As we have said before, the new versions of iTunes will not sync with digital readers are not supported, or rather, those who pretend via Software to be an iPod, including the Palm Pre".

Palm's answer was quite simple:

"Get an older version of iTunes and enjoy syncronization".

This app allows iPhone 3GS users to detect metal and magnetic flux. Looks nice:

This app costs $0.99 (AppStore link), however there are many free metal detect apps out there (link).

Apple has released a minor update to iTunes, version 8.2.1 available via pop up when you open iTunes, or when you launch Apple Software Update:

iTunes 8.2.1 provides a number of important bug fixes and addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices.

What it does, is it breaks Palm Pre sync. Maybe there are some other fixes. If you use jailbreak, we do NOT recommend you this upgrade. Other users can download it here.

Apple released new SDK and new firmware and 3.1 beta 2. Unless you have a developer account with Apple, don't plugging your iPhone into iTunes, you're not going to have access to it. However here is an unofficial changelist:

• Minor release focused more to fix the bugs.
• New APIs for video and images. It appears that there will be many applications in AppStore, suitable to apply effects on a video or create animated slideshow.
• Xcode bug-fixes.
• More items have been localized, such as "In Play", "Request access WiFi".
• Developers will be able to use WiFi for debuging, etc.
• Baseband is now version 05:10:01. This means that all those who use unlock - do not update yet.
• The iPhone is heated much less.
• Old method to turn tethering on  does not work anymore.

Quantum Collapse is one of the best games RTS (Real Time Strategy) games for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game was released less than a month ago and has already been updated to version 1.1. Regular price is $3.99, but it is on sal enow for $0.99 (AppStore link). There is also a free lite version (AppStore link).

Features:

• 13 Campaign missions providing more than 8 hours of gameplay
• 11 Skirmish missions with 3 different AI Types.
• Amazing Particle Effects and Explosions
• 2 Completely different factions with unique designs and powers
• Voxel generated terrain (no repetitive tilemaps)

In next version developers will implement multiplayer with voice-chat. Note for iPhone 3GS users: the game has graphical glitches on the iPhone 3GS. Developers found the solution and the fix is on it's way.

Worms game is now avaliable in AppStore for $4.99 (iTunes link). It is so popular and it is really great. Here are couple screenshots:

Unfortunately to iPhone 2G/3G users it run really slow on therse devices.Here are couple reviews:

• The game is SLOW. Lag time at every action, even in menus.
• Really bad framerate.
• I was expecting this game sience laste year when rumors came up about worms. Now i’m so very disapointed! IT’s very SLOW!

However iPhone 3GS users are happy:

• Game is plenty fast on my 3GS!
• First game that require a 3GS.

Navigon has just released free version of their navigation application. Navigon MobileNavigator Lite includes the same range of functions as the full version, although no active route guidance with GPS support is available. In other words you have the maps and you can just browse without Turn-by-turn directions.

In US AppStore we were able to find and download Navigon MobileNavigator Lite North America. There are many different other apps in different AppStores. For example there is MobileNavigator British Isles in UK AppStore. Unfortunately there is no free Europe in one app.

Who still has not tested the Navigon can do it now. Good download.

Apple’s third generation iPod touch seems to be going out for a little web-based test drive. Designated iPod touch 3,1, we first saw code hints of it in the iPhone 3.0 beta firmware, and then in rumors about the iPod touch getting a camera. Now, according to app analytics provider PinchMedia:

we’ve been noticing an “iPod 3,1″ string appearing in our version reporting, signifying what we believe to be a new yet-to-be-released version of the iPod Touch.

For the last two years, Apple has reveled new iPod touch models during their fall music-focused events. Last year, the second generation iPod touch debuted at Let’s Rock alongside iPhone 2.1, and iTunes 8. Since Apple likes their product cycles, does this mean we’ll see iPod touch 3,1 and iPhone 3.1 sometime this September?

iTwitter is really first app that has push. But push only works if the person @replying or DMing you is using iTwitter too. Well, looks like this kind of push is almost useless...

Great news for all iPhone 3GS users. DevTeam updated ultrasn0w, software that unlocks iPhone with firmware 3.0. Now it supports iPhone 3GS!

Avaliable in Cydia, repo: repo666.ultrasn0w.com

Here are quick instructions:

1. Ensure you have firmware 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone using redsn0w (this will also install Cydia)
3. Run Cydia
4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia. That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”! If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
8. Enjoy
9. If you have any problems reset your network settings (it helped many users): Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings

Geohot released a beta software for iPhone 3GS jailbreak called PurpleRa1n. It is beta and has some issues, but it gets the job done if you’re patient.

Requirements: You must have
1) Windows xp sp2, Vista, Windows 7, MAC OS
2) iTunes 8.2.0.23
3) Purplera1n software

The jailbreak is a bit incomplete. The kernel vm_mem patch is not present so Winterboard will not work as some other critical tweaks. (SBSettings does work!).

Use with caution and be patient. If you're not in a hurry, wait for the release from DevTeam.

The 88, an American band, had a single recorded using only their musical instruments and the microphone of an iPhone. In particular they used an application called FourTrack, which allows you to record and combine multiple tracks. The result cn be found on iTunes.

id Software's original iPhone game Doom Resurrection (App Store link) was released into the App Store earlier today. The Doom 3 inspired game offers a first person shooting experience that's been adapted to the iPhone. The player's movements in the game are scripted while the aiming/shooting is controlled by the accelerometer. This video shows the game in action:

Skype, the application for iPhone and iPod Touch through which you can call and chat for free with your Skype contacts, has been updated to version 1.1. This is an update adds some small improvements and bug fixes.

What's new in version 1.1

• Support for the following languages: English, German, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese, Spanish, Norwegian, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Italian, French, Polish and Japanese.
• Send text (SMS) messages using Skype credit.
• Voicemail support.
• Improved dialing help when calling phones.

This is the first iPhone application to contain bare boobs. The $1.99 app for iPhone and iPod touch only showed girls in lingerie and bikinis until now.

This is not just an application that downloads softcore content from the Web, bypassing Apple's censorship. There is no censorship here, as this is truly an Apple approved app "rated 17+" for "frequent/intense sexual content or nudity" and "frequent/intense mature/suggestive theme."

According to developers: "We uploaded nude topless pics today. This is the first app to have nudity".
