Yesterday, Tim Cook started redirecting customers’ e-mails to Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president for Internet services. Cook confirmed 9to5Mac that Cue was officially promoted to a senior vise president position.

From an internal Apple email sent by Tim Cook:

It is my pleasure to announce the promotion of Eddy Cue to Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services. Eddy will report to me and will serve on Apple’s executive management team.

Eddy oversees Apple’s industry-leading content stores including the iTunes Store, the revolutionary App Store and the iBookstore, as well as iAd and Apple’s innovative iCloud services. He is a 22-year Apple veteran and leads a large organization of amazing people. He played a major role in creating the Apple online store in 1998, the iTunes Music Store in 2003 and the App Store in 2008.

Cue's promotion may be the first move in a reshuffling of Apple's leadership. The position of Chief Operating Officer is now vacant. Apple’s COO was Tim Cook until his ascension to the CEO position. And soon a position of a senior vice president for retail will be vacant as he takes the CEO position at J.C. Penney.

New York Post and a few arabian sources have been digging up interviews with Steve Jobs’ biological Syrian-born father, Abdulfattah John Jandali, who is an Executive Vice President of a Reno casino, Nevada. John is an 80-year old workaholic, determined to avoid retirement at all costs.

For all his accomplishments, the Syrian immigrant says he is overcoming with guilt over his treatment of 56-years-old Jobs, and, given his son's health woes and decision this week to step down as Apple CEO, fears his time is running out.

BGR  reports that an AT&T vice president has confirmed to some employees that the iPhone 5 will indeed announced in early October. AT&T higher-ups told their managers to prepare employees for a “really, really busy” iPhone 5 launch.

One of our high-level AT&T sources just informed us that an AT&T Vice President has confirmed to several employees that the iPhone 5 is slated to launch in early October. Additionally, the VP communicated the following to a group of managers: ‘Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly’.

Apple's carrier partners, however, frequently don’t know Apple's exact launch plans. But AT&T is one of Apple's closer partners.

The Next Web reports that Hewlett-Packard engineers have tested webOS on iPad and to their dismay they found out that webOS runs on Apple’s hardware more than twice as fast as on the TouchPad hardware.

According to Bloomberg’s report, Nintendo’s investors are urging the company to produce titles for iOS devices. Yesterday Apple reported that number of downloads in App Store for iOS devices has exceeded 15 billion, which result in bringing in more than $2.5 billion to developers and selling more than 200 million iOS devices.

Today Adobe has presented a new "switcher" discount program that is intended to take advantage of harsh criticism directed  to Apple’s new Final Cut Pro X. This promotional program provides 50% discount on either Premiere Pro CS5.5 or Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium to people who currently use Avid’s Media Composer or Apple’s Final Cut Pro. Some current users of Adobe products are also allowed to get this discount.

As noted by MacStories, App Store offers now more than 100.000 applications specially created for 9.7-inch iPad’s display.

This 100.000 milestone was reached by Apple this week. The total figure refers to iPad-specific applications, and does not count iPhone apps, which can work but doesn’t enjoy advantages of the bigger screen size.

According to Bloomberg’s report, HP is interested in licensing its mobile operating system webOS to other companies, which may open the door for yet another competitor in the tablet and smartphone market.

"We are talking to a number of companies," Apotheker, president of the company, stated in Beijing, refusing to give more details."I can share with you that a number of companies have expressed interest. We are continuing our conversations."

Yesterday Apple started its WWDC 2011 with a keynote event about the next generation of software for its devices. Today the company made its 118-minute presentation publicly available on Apple.com.

On the keynote Apple CEO Steve Jobs along with senior vice president of iOS Software Scott Forstall and senior vice president for Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller unveiled new version of its mobile operational system, new cloud service iCloud and took a closer look at Mac OS X 10.7.

Worldwide Developers Conference 2011 will take place until June 10. More than a hundred of technical sessions should help developers in creating applications for Lion and iOS 5.

Yesterday Apple released the iWork suit for iPhone with the same future set of the iPad. iWork for iPhone lets you easily manage and create documents, print them through AirPrint, and share them with iTunes. All three applications - Pages, Numbers and Keynote - come with a new document manager to organize documents into folders, Keynote brings deeper compatibility with the Keynote Remote and Pages sports a new feature called “Smart Zoom” for viewing and editing data.

“Now you can use Keynote, Pages and Numbers on iPhone and iPod touch to create amazing presentations, documents and spreadsheets right in the palm of your hand,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The incredible Retina display, revolutionary Multi-Touch interface and our powerful software make it easy to create, edit, organize and share all of your documents from iPhone 4 or iPod touch.”

Journalist Matt Warman from The Daily Telegraph has recently posted a claim of HP's European head Eric Cador, who told at a press conference in Cannes that the company's devices will eventually overtake Apple's iPad:

"In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP’s products from our competitors, we became number one. In the tablet world we’re going to become better than number one. We call it number one plus."

During SID Display Week 2011 International Symposium between May 17-19, Samsung will officially unveil and demonstrate the first 10.1-inch display with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution specifically meant for tablets. The industry-first display will offer a “ultra-high resolution” using standard LCD technology. According to Samsung’s press release, the display also relies on the PenTile technology, which allows for 40% less power consumption and two-thirds number of subpixels.

Yesterday, on May 3 Apple has unveiled its new iMac desktops, which are up to 70% faster that its previous generation. Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing was traditionally excited to present new devices:

"Our customers love the iMac’s aluminum enclosure, gorgeous display and all-in-one design. With next generation quad-core processors, powerful new graphics, Thunderbolt technology and a FaceTime HD camera, we've made the world’s best desktop even better."
