IDC Estimates Android Will Overtake Apple In Worldwide Tablet Market In 2013
Research firm IDC today updated 2013 estimates for worldwide tablet shipments. The company increased its estimates from 172.4 million to 190.9 million units for the year and claims that shipments of Android-based tablets will continue to rise and eat into Apple’s marketshare. IDC notes that Android will take 48.8 percent of the worldwide tablet market by the end of this year, compared to 41.5% in its previous forecast, while Apple is predicted to capture 46.0%, down from 51% in 2012.
Analysts Suggest Apple Will Miss Its Revenue Forecast For 2Q 2013
Citi analysts issued a new research note claiming that Apple will miss its own revenue estimates of $41-43 billion for the second quarter by more than $500 million.
CNET, the research note says that reduced demand for iPhone 5 related components in Apple supply chain indicates that there is a softer demand for iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
Samsung takes 3% stake in Sharp screen production

The Wall Street Journal reports that Samsung has paid $112 million for a 3% stakes of Sharp's LCD screens, which is a key supplier of LCD screens for Samsung and Apple.

This Year Apple Again Topped Fortune’s 'Most Admired Companies' Ranking
Apple has taken the number one position in Fortune's annual list of for sixth year running.
The Fortune’s ranking is based on a extensive poll of industry analysts, corporate executives and directors who ranked companies by nine key attributes: Use of corporate assets, People management, Financial soundness, Innovation, Social responsibility, Quality of management, Financial soundness, Quality of management, Long-term investment, Global competitiveness and Quality of products/services. Apple scored the number one spot in all nine categories.
Samsung Outpaced Apple In Connected Device Market
Market intelligence firm IDC a report on what it describes as the Smart Connected Device Market. The graphic created by the company shows the market share decrease for both laptops (from 29% in 2010 to 17% in 2012) and desktop PCs (from 23% to 12%), while smartphones grew from 45% to 60% and tablets from 3% to 11%. Overall, the PCs’ market share fall from about 50% to 30% in just two years.

In November, research company Strategy Analytics that Samsung's Galaxy S III had become the best-selling smartphone worldwide in the third quarter of last year, taking advantage of iPhone 4S decreased sales ahead of the iPhone 5 launch.
The firm’s latest research shows that Apple easily retook the title for the fourth quarter of 2012 with the iPhone 5 shipments reaching 27.4 million units for 12,6 percent of the market.
