According to the latest report from DigiTimes, only the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone 8 will feature a body made of reinforced glass with a stainless steel frame. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7s will have an aluminum back panel similar to the one its predecessor had. The design of the 5.5-inch handset hasn’t yet been confirmed, supply chain insiders claim.

iPhone sales in China demonstrated a year-over-year decline in 2016, reports a research firm IDC. According to the researchers, Chinese customers are waiting for the iPhone 8 that is why the market share fell from 13.6% and 58.4 million units shipped in 2015 to 9.6% and 44.9 million units last year. This sum will be paid to suppliers in March, but the quarterly gross margin of the company should not be affected too much, the analyst adds.
Japan Display to Produce Flexible LCDs in 2018
According to the latest report from the Wall Street Journal, one of Apple suppliers, Japan Display, is planning to start the production of flexible LCD displays in 2018. They are cheaper to produce and the company says it has already found several smartphone vendors that are ready to start using new screens. OLED screens are more advanced, they use less power, but provide better image quality. Still, LCDs are good for mid-range and low-end smartphones.
