Apple officially announces iPad 2

Apple has just made its second-generation iPad official! It features a 1GHz dual-core A5 chip. The new CPU is said to be up to twice as fast, with graphics performance up to nine times better than on the original iPad, while power requirements have been kept the same. The new tablet will come with an HDMI output capable of 1080p, but it requires $39 adapter. There's an enlarged speaker grille on the back though resolution remained the same as the original iPad's 1024 x 768.

UK government denied Apple's Steve Jobs knighthood in 2009

The Telegraph reports that Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs was close to being knighted for his services to technology by the Queen of the United Kingdom in 2009. Unfortunately or fortunately for Jobs, his nomination was blocked by Gordon Brown, who served as Prime Minister at the time, because the Apple co-founder apparently turned down an invitation to speak at a Labour Party conference. Apple was aware of the proposal that till that moment reached the final stage of approval.
"The former MP was told by Downing Street that the decision was related to a failed attempt to attract Mr. Jobs to Labour's annual conference," the report said. "Given his status as a superstar of business and technology, such an appearance would have been viewed as a coup for Mr. Brown."
New Remote Trojan Targets Growing Number of Mac OS X Users
It seams that malicious hacker put their hands on Mac computers. Security researchers report that hackers have a way to remotely send commands to your Mac OS X computer. “Blackhole” RAT, or Remote Access Trojan, allows hackers to control your Mac. SophosLabs analyzed the sample it received and determined that it is a variant of a well-known Remote Access Trojan (RAT) for Windows known as darkComet. The Blackhole RAT is available for download from the net, but there are no any reports from customers being hit by it.
The Trojan's basic functionality includes:
Steve Jobs to Appear at Today's Media Event

Despite the fact that Apple CEO Steve Jobs is on a health-related leave from the company now, Italian Apple site SetteB claims that he is definitely considering to appear at today’s big media event.
"If he did appear, sources said Jobs would at least make a brief appearance onstage, along with other top company execs in showing off Apple's latest version of its hugely popular tablet".
Apple is expected to introduce the second-generation iPad at an event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California, today. The media event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern.
Apple Confirms: Two New Italian Stores to Open Soon, One in Sicily

Recently Apple posted on its website a new job listing that confirms rumors about Apple’s plans to open new Apple Store in southern Italy, most specifically in Sicily. The company focused its attention on opening Stores in near-Rome regions, so there are not so many Apple’s shops in southern Italy. The new store is to open by the end of summer 2011, according to the local press. The exact location of Store is still unknown. But there are some rumors claiming that the store will be open in the city of Catania. Apple plans to open other store in Bologna that confirms by another job listing.
Mac OS X Lion's Safari is Snappier and More Stable Thanks to WebKit2

In the forthcoming Mac OS X Lion Apple will use WebKit2 in Safari web-browser. Apple’s WebKit engine was announced in April 2010. The new WebKit2 offers both speed and security improvements:
WebKit2 is a new API layer for WebKit designed from the ground up to support a split process model, where the web content (JavaScript, HTML, layout, etc) lives in a separate process from the application UI. This model is very similar to what Google Chrome offers, with the major difference being that we have built the process split model directly into the framework, allowing other clients of WebKit to use it.
That means that Safari will be faster and more stable and if a webpage crashes or hangs, only that single tab will be affected instead the whole browser.
