iOS 8 Adoption Rate Reaches 52% Five Weeks After Release
Several days ago, I told you about OS X Yosemite adoption rate, which at that time was 12.8%. Today I'd like to talk about Apple's iOS 8 and its adoption rate.
According to the latest figures published on Apple's App Store support page for developers, five weeks after the release, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system is installed on 52% of devices. And this is an impressive result, I must admit.
Apple's Vice President Greg Joswiak Apologizes for iOS 8.0.1 Bug
Greg Joswiak, Apple's VP of iPhone marketing, earlier today had an interview with Re/code reporters Ina Fried and Walt Mossberg. During this interview, Apple representative apologized for the iOS 8.0.1 bug that made it impossible for many iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users to access Touch ID and cellular service on their smartphones. Joswiak claimed that a problem with iOS 8.0.1 was caused by the software distribution and not by the flaw in the operating system as it was believed earlier. Anyway, it was a terrible mistake, so I guess the guys from Cupertino should find out whose fault was that.
Apple Pay Now Boasts of More Than 1 Million Users in the USA
According to what Tim Cook said during the WSJ.D conference in Laguna Beach, California, more than one million users activated their credit or debit cards in the first 72 hours of Apple Pay availability in the USA. Cook also said that he used the recently-launched mobile payments system himself and that he was surprised to find out how easy it was to set everything up and to utilize the service in the store. Apple CEO claimed that the new system is "easy, secure, and private". And looks like he is right.

iTunes Sales Fall 13%, Apple Hurries Up to Rebrand Beats Music
According to what people familiar with the matter claim, iTunes sales have fallen more than 13% this year. Keeping this information in mind, it now becomes clear why the guys from Cupertino have decided to rebrand the Beats Music service and make it a part of the iTunes brand. You see, more and more people prefer listening to music online to downloading separate songs or albums. There are several reasons for that, namely, the rapid development of 3G and 4G networks and the price, of course. It is cheaper to purchase the subscription for the music streaming service than to buy all the songs you like.

Saurik Releases iOS 8 Version of Cydia
Saurik has released an iOS 8 compatible version of Cydia for manual download following the release of an untethered Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8 - iOS 8.1.
I've given a new version of Cydia Installer in the form of a standard jailbreak bootstrap for inclusion in a new version of their jailbreak. I've also pushed the .deb of the iOS 8 version of Cydia to apt.saurik.com for manual download, but not yet to my repository. A lot of thanks goes out to limneos, who tested the new build for me, as I was at an airport (and now am frantically typing this message while they figure out how to retract the jetbridge from the plane I'm on that is about to take off).
Recently the Pangu8 jailbreak was released for Windows only, and without a compatible version of Cydia. Now that the compatible Cydia deb has been released you can download it from here: .
