White iPhone 4 shipping in Germany
As we all remember, Apple announced that the white iPhone 4 won't appear in retail until spring 2011. But it seems not a problem for a German e-tailer Notebook.de, which has already started shipping the elusive handset. But its price is quite high! A plain, black iPhone 4 16GB would set you back between €649 and €699 in the EU market, but the white one goes for €1999. The 32GB model is listed at €2199. The retailer specifically states that phones in question are not modified in any way and that they are factory packaged, describing them as a "rarity".
Apple Started Offering Unlocked iPhones in Germany
Yesterday wireless carriers Vodafone and O2 started offering the iPhones in Germany. Previously Apple's handset had been carried exclusively by T-Mobile. Nowadays the carrier continues to sell the device. The iPhone is offered in a variety of plans and contracts; one of them even allows to buy the phone for 1 euro.
German version of Apple's Online Store also started offering iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, which are contract-free and unlocked so they can "work with the wireless carrier of your choice". The site also reminds the iPhones work only with GSM networks, and the latest generation of handsets requires a micro-SIM card.
The prices for iPhones in German retail stores are next:

iPhone 4 Became Available For Preorder
So today is the day when iPhone 4 becomes available for preorder in the U.S., Germany, France, Japan and the U.K.
The Apple's site reveals that the white model is currently unavailable, which was explained by yesterday's AT&T memo, where it is said that supplies may be scarce at launch. The AT&T site reveals that white iPhone 4 is "coming soon", though it is disclosed in the memo that the company's stores will actually take reservations for white model, but it will be shipped later this summer.
Anyway, black iPhone 4 and 8GB iPhone 3GS may be freely preordered, and then picked up in stores or shipped directly to your home on June 24.
The price for iPhone 4 with a two-year contract with AT&T in the USA is $199 for 16GB model and $299 for 32GB model.
The price for unlocked iPhone is €629 for 16GB model and €739 for 32GB model in France, the prices for U.K. customers were revealed earlier.
Best Buy Will Also Be Taking iPhone 4 Pre-Orders Tomorrow
Today Best Buy announced that as of Tuesday, June 15, every customer will have an ability to visit one of its retail stores (including Best Buy Mobile standalone stores) to make an order for a new iPhone 4 and then take it on June 24. Both 16GB and 32GB models will be available for reserve.
President of Best Buy Mobile Shawn Score is glad to propose customers pre-order feature:
- Adding the iPhone 4 to our stores alongside other great smartphones like the HTC EVO from Sprint and HTC Incredible on Verizon, gives customers a great opportunity to view each side-by-side and get the mobile phone that works best for them.
Best Buy will become the second iPhone 4 retailer after Radioshack, which confirmed last week that it was authorized by Apple too.
As we wrote before, on June 24 iPhone 4 will also be available at Wal-Mart locations, but the company will not take pre-orders on the device.
AT&T, which will also sell new handsets, didn’t give any information on taking pre-orders.
Wal-Mart Will Start Selling iPhone 4 On June 24
According to CNET, Wal-Mart had confirmed information about carrying new iPhone in its stores beginning on June 24. It is a first time when Wal-Mart will start selling Apple's device on its official launch day. The price will be slightly undercut - $197 and $297 for 16GB and 32GB versions respectively.
Wal-Mart has gained much attention recently when it was announced that after iPhone 4 launch the company will start selling 16GB iPhone 3GS with a two-year contract for only $97. Currently it is unknown whether Wal-Mart will continue to sell 8GB versions of 3GS model in the next quarter or not.
The growing list of retailers in the U.S. also includes RadioShack and Best Buy, which will also be carrying iPhone 4 at launch.

iPad Will Be Shipped Internationally On May 28
Apple had recently announced that the iPad will be shipped to Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Switzerland and the United Kingdom on Friday, May 28. The delay for approximately a month was caused by a strong demand for the iPad in the United States. Preorders will begin on Monday, May 10, for both Wi-Fi and 3G models.
Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Mexico, Singapore and New Zealand will receive iPads in July. Precise date will be announced by Apple later.

Apple now offering iPhones contract free
Today Apple began selling iPhones without AT&T plan. Apple's new policy is that anyone can walk into an Apple Store and pick up an iPhone 8GB for $499, 16GB for $599 and 32GB for $699. They allow one unit per customer per day, up to 10 iPhones.
The iPhones are still locked to AT&T's network. Of course, these devices will be sold with the latest baseband which is not yet unlockable; however, you can use RedSn0w to perform a tethered jailbreak.
iPad costs Apple just $270
BroadPoint AmTech analyst Brian Marshall calculated the real price of the Apple iPad. His numbers are based on the price of all components.
The flash memory and the aluminum case both cost about $25, while the Apple A4 processor is just $15. The total cost for 16GB Wi-Fi iPad (US$499) is just $270.50. Manufacturing adds $10 and warranty service costs add up to $20.
Thr 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi models add even more margin. The 32GB model costs only $25.50 more than the 16GB, but the suggested retail price is $100 more. Apple will really make money on the 64GB model, which costs $76.50 more than the 16GB device but sells for $200 more.
Apple iPad Specs And Prices
Apple's finally announced the iPad (Apple Tablet). It is perfect for tasks like browsing, email, photos, e-books and videos. It's a half-inch thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds (680g), with a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display and it's running a custom 1GHz Apple "A4" chip developed by the P.A. Semi team. The 10-hour battery life and a month of standby is quite exciting.
There will be devices with 16, 32 and 64GB. All iPads will get a 30-pin Dock connector, a speaker, a microphone, Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and optional 3G, as well as an accelerometer and a compass. There's also a keyboard dock, which connects underneath in the portrait orientation. iPad supports up to 1024x768 VGA out and 480p composite out through dock adapter cables. There is a camera attachment kit that lets you import photos from your camera over USB or directly through an SD reader.
The device is managed by iTunes, just like the iPhone and iPod Touch. iPad can run iPhone apps: either pixel-for-pixel in a window, or pixel-doubled fullscreen. Developers can also target the new screen size using the updated iPhone OS SDK, which is available today.
The 3G version runs on AT&T and comes with new data plans: 250MB for $14.99 and an unlimited plan for $29.99 a month contract-free. Activations are handled on the iPad, so you can activate and cancel whenever you want. Every iPad is unlocked (!) and comes with a GSM "micro-SIM".
The price starts at $499 for 16GB, 32GB for $599, and $699 64GB. Adding 3G costs a $130 per model, so the most expensive model (64GB / 3G) is $829. The WiFi-only model will ship in 60 days, and the 3G models will come in 90.
UPDATE: The 3G version will also have A-GPS.
