A study finds differences between iPhone and Samsung buyers





According to recent research performed by the Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, iPhone buyers are younger, wealthier, and more educated than Samsung buyers.

It is also stated in the report that in the year 2013 20% of iPhone customers switched from Android, while the figure of those who forsook iPhone for Samsung is only 7%.

The key figures of the report:

● 42% of Apple's U.S. customers between July 2012 and June 2013 were upgrading from another iPhone
● 43% of Samsung's customers had previously owned an Android phone, but not necessarily one made by Samsung
● 37% of Samsung buyers were upgrading from so-called feature phones, the figure for Apple is only 26%
● Among brand-switchers, Samsung took from Apple 11%, while Apple gained three times as many(33%)
● Among these switchers, Samsung drew customers from HTC, Motorola (GOOG), and Nokia (NOK), while Apple took mostly from Blackberry (BBRY)

App Store's Still Number One in Revenue, Google Play's the Second



Apple’s App Store revenue still remains higher than the Google Play’s revenue. Although the Google’s store has had a substantial increase in growth over the past six months, the company from Cupertino still makes more money on selling apps.

Launch of new iPhones will be the most successful in all history of Apple



According to analyst Trip Chowdhry, the Managing Director of Equity Research at Global Equities Research, the coming launch of new iPhones will be the most successful one in all history of Cupertino company.

"The new iPhones will be massively successful," Chowdhry told Benzinga this morning. "This will be the most successful product launch ever in the history of Apple."

Bob Mansfield will be developing new products for Apple



It was reported earlier this week that Apple executive Bob Mansfield has given up his management duties at Apple. He is rumored to have focused on 'special projects', concerning development of new products for Cupertino company. So his responsibilities will be taken over by other executives.

Dan Riccio will be responsible for Apple's antenna design team. Moreover, he will still lead the department of  Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod engineering. Dan Riccio was promoted to lead Apple's hardware engineering teams when Bob Mansfield first retired last year.

Jeff Williams will acquire the job of managing Apple's special projects engineering teams. He is the Senior Vice President for Operations and has bee working with Tim Cook for years now.  Though it is Mansfield who will focus on Apple's newest and most innovative designs. Thus he will not be distracted with management issues any longer.

iPhone sales data



The new data presented in June by Consumer Intelligence Research state that Apple's iPhone 5 sales account for 52% of the company's smartphone sales. The figure of iPhone 4S corresponds to 30% of the sales while the one of iPhone 4 only reaches 18%.

The sales Phone 5 seem to be occupying more than half of all iPhone sales, figures registered nine months after the   launch of newcomer. Whereas the earlier model, iPhone 4S, accounts for almost three-quarters of iPhone sales nearly a year after its launch. Last but not the least, iPhone 4S had 90 percent of all iPhone sales in the immediate after-launch  period , compared to about 70 percent for iPhone 5.

Google is launching Nexus 7



On July 24th Google is holding an event in San Francisco, where it is likely to show an upgraded NExus 7 tablet. It was rumored that the tablet will cost $229 for 16GB and $269 for 32GB. Retailers are about to get stock of the device on July 20th and they are offering sales on the current versions.

Thanks for 9to5Google, the photos of the next Nexus 7 tablet are revealed. It is claimed that the manufacturer of the device is ASUS and it comes in 16GB and 32GB models. The tablet has two cameras, a 1.2MP shooter on the front and a 5MP rear made by Chicony.

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 Coming on September 19, Not Today



Rovio showed us a new teaser to its Angry Birds Star Wars 2 game yesterday. And it proved that I was wrong. A couple of days ago I told you that on July 15 we shall see that game on the App Store and Google play. Unfortunately, that's not true.

Apple and Google are getting on better



Google and Apple seems to be improving their relationship. It is proved by Google's chairman Eric Schmidt, who says : "These are two proud, well-run, different companies."

Apple and Google met on Allen and Company Sun Valley Conference where tech moguls meet every year. In fact, the two companies have always been quite close as the CEOs, Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs knew each other for years. Eric Schmidt was even one of Apple’s directors, before Android OS was launched and they competition with Apple began.

Twitter for iOS and Mac Updated



Twitter app for both OS X and iOS got the update recently. The new version can boast of a truly unique and noticeable feature – direct message syncing. What that means is that when you read a DM using official website or the Twitter clients for Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Windows Phone or whatever else platform, this message would be automatically marked as already read on any other device. Well, I’m new to Twitter and I’ve been using it for only about a week, but I do understand what a great feature the developers have embedded to the app. Every day I waste much time on scrolling through the messages I’ve already seen to reach the newer ones.

iPhone reaches Android sales in May



According to recent market research, carried out by Kantar Worldpanel, Android remains the leader in smartphone market with 52% share. Apple is market challenger with 41,9 %, which is 3,5% higher than over the same period last year.

iOS success is put down to the agreement of T-Mobile to work with iPhone 5. The carrier picked up its best-selling smartphone only in the middle of April, but since then the sales have increased considerably. Currently 31% of carrier’s models are iPhones.
