Amazon Is Working On Its Own Smartphone To Compete With Android And iOS
Today Bloomberg that Amazon is developing its own smartphone that will be able to compete with Android-based smartphones and iPhone. Amazon is reportedly cooperating with Foxconn to develop the smartphone, the same manufacturer that produces a number of Apple’s handsets, including iPad and iPhone.
Apple Has Removed SMS Spam Application From App Store
Today Russian security company Kaspersky Lab that they had been notified about an app available in Google Play store (for Android) and Apple’s App Store that was quietly gathering data from user’s address book and sending it to the remote servers. Then the developer’s servers were sending SMS spam messages to contacts from the address book advertising the app, with the “From” field being filled with the mobile phone number of the original user.

Microsoft Announces Its New Tablet Called Surface
Microsoft has unveiled its new tablet that will compete with iPad, Google’s Android and tablets from other manufacturers.
The is a 10.6-inch tablet running Windows 8 and will come in two models. One will be powered by OS Windows RT and ARM processor. It will ship in 64GB or 32GB versions.

For Every Ten Apps That Developers Build, Seven Are Built For iOS
Ahead of the annual conferences of Apple and Google, analytics firm Flurry compared developer support for Android and iOS by analyzing data collected from over 70,000 companies and 185,000 mobile apps. Its findings show that for every 10 apps that are built by developers, seven are created for iOS (the graph bar above). The company also reports that Google and Apple have a joint market cap of nearly $750 billion.
Google Introduces New 3D Features For Google Earth
In a today’s press conference, Google introduced “the next dimensions” of its Google Maps. The presentation included a lot of history of the Google Maps, Earth and Street View and a peek at what is expected. The announcements are particularly important given the rumors that Apple is going to replace Google Maps with its own maps application in iOS.
Facebook reportedly hiring former Apple iPhone engineers for phone project
The New York Times claims that Facebook is drawing upon former Apple engineers and has hired "more than half a dozen former Apple software and hardware engineers who worked on the iPhone" to develop its own phone. The New York Times’ report also said that Facebook is interested in buying a smartphone company. It raised $16 billion during its recent IPO, enough to purchase either Research in Motion or HTC.
One tipster suggested that the current effort is the company's third attempt to build a smartphone. People who reportedly worked on the first attempt told the Times that the project fell apart because it proved to be more difficult than expected. As a result, Facebook is believed to have realized that it needs industry-experienced veterans to develop hardware, specifically Apple alumni.
HP Plans To Reenter Tablet Market With Windows 8-Based Device
HP attracted a considerable amount of attention when it initially wanted to find its niche in the tablet market with webOS, which was acquired along with Palm in 2010. HP its TouchPad running on webOS in early 2011 and launched it on July 1 last year only to six weeks later.
Adobe Releases Collage And Proto Apps For iPad
Adobe Collage app that was previously available for Android platform today was also released to iPad users. This app allows users to assemble moodboards using content that can be imported from Adobe Creative Suite programs or uploaded to 2GB Adobe Creative Cloud space.

Facebook Unveils App Center For All Devices And Platforms
Facebook announced the launch of a new App Center that will offer Facebook users Android, iOS, desktop, web and mobile web apps. Facebook said that it is not directly competing with Google and Apple as the App Center will forward users to both the Android and iOS platforms. So, for example, if you are visiting the App Center from an iPhone, and enter , or other Facebook-compatible games, you will be sent to the corresponding app’s page on the App Store for installation.
iOS Dropped To 29 Percent Of US Smartphone Sales In The First Quarter
CNET that iOS U.S. market share dropped by 12 percent in the first quarter, which enable Google’s Android to take almost two-thirds of the market.
According to market research company NPD Group, Android was able to capture 61 percent of the U.S. market, which is a considerable gain from the 49 percent registered in last year’s fourth quarter.

iPad tablet market share will dip to 50% by 2017
NPD, market research firm, suggests that Apple’s tablet market share will drop to just over 50 percent by 2017. Android and Windows-based devices will, obviously, have a hand in it, and, as NPD expects, will begin continue to eat into the iPad's overwhelming lead by 2014.
The overall tablet market will swell from 81.6 million units in 2011 to 424.9 million units by 2017, and tablet shipments will surpass those of notebooks by 2016.

Apple's iPhone climbs to 31% share of US smartphone market
comScore released on Tuesday quarterly data from its MobiLens service, which surveyed 30,000 mobile subscribers users, revealing that the iPhone made up 30.7 percent of the U.S. smartphone market and 14 percent of the mobile market in the first quarter of 2012.
Apple's share of the smartphone market grew 1.1 percent when compared to the fourth quarter of 2011. The figures were up 0.5 percent from Apple's three-month average from February.
iOS Devices Took 80% Of All Enterprise Activations In The First Quarter
According to Good Technology’s on device activations from its enterprise customers in the first quarter of 2012, iPhone and iPad together continue to dominate in the enterprise market with about 73.4% of all smartphone activations, and 97.3% of tablet activations in the quarter.
