iPad vs iPad 2: what's changed
Apple found plenty of things to tweak and update on it's iPad. We didn't get new ports, there is no Thunderbolt, the screen and resolution is the same, however the iPad 2 is thinner and lighter somehow even more powerful, it's faster with 1GHz dual-core Apple A5. Here's first look breakdown of the key spec differences:

New 13-inch MacBook Pros Get Core i5 and i7 CPUs
As we reported earlier, today Apple unveiled new 13", 15" and 17" MacBook Pros. 13-inch notebook will be offered in two configurations: one with an Intel Dual-Core 2.7 GHz i7 processor and 500GB HDD for $1,499 and another with an Intel Dual-Core 2.3 GHz i5 processor and 320GB HDD with price of $1,199. In other hardware specifications, which are listed below, they are the same:
- 13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display with native resolution of 1280x800.
- Intel HD Graphics 3000 that sports 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory;
- 4GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1333 MHz with two other SO-DIMM slots to support up to 8GB;
- Built-in 63.5-watt-hour Li-Pol battery that allows to surf the web wirelessly for up to 7 hours;
- 8x slot-loading SuperDrive;
- FaceTime HD camera;
- Thunderbolt port, Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ-45), FireWire 800 port, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Audio in/out, Kensington lock slot, SDXC card slot;
- 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet support;
- 2,04 kg weight.
Today Apple's Media Event: What To Expect
As you may know, today Apple unveils its new lineup of MacBook Pros and has already shut down the Apple Store for some time. CNet reports the launch of new laptops will come "shortly after Intel's announcement" of its new Light Peak technology at 10 a.m. Pacific. That actually break's usual practice of Apple to release products at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.

HP Unveiled Its New Tablet And 2 Smartphones
This Wednesday HP announced its three new webOS-based devices - the TouchPad tablet and two smartphones named Pre 3 and Veer. Before they were unveiled general manager and senior vice president for the Palm Global Business Unit at HP Jon Rubistein told that the company is at the beginning of new epoch.
"Today we're embarking on a new era of webOS with the goal of linking a wide family of HP products through the best mobile experience available. The flexibility of the webOS platform makes it ideal for creating a range of innovative devices that work together to keep you better connected to your world."

iPad 2: Carbon Fiber, NFC Features, 7-inch Model
iLounge claims that got some details about what may be in store for the second-generation iPad. So the new device’s shell will be made from a carbon fiber that would allow reducing the weight of the second-generation iPad. Moreover Apple has not yet abandoned the idea of a smaller iPad carrying a 7-inch display, contrary to Steve Jobs saying that 7-inch tablets were dead on arrival, and Apple's suppliers has been asked to manufacture a component that would be used in a 7-inch iPad. Beta-version Of Jailbreak For iOS 4.2.1 Released
The iPhone Dev team has just released the second beta of their untethered RedSn0w jailbreak (the first beta has been released few hours ago and has more bugs).
New jailbreak is called "Jailbreak Monte", as it uses new "backup method". The iPhone Dev Team warns that their beta-version is not a general release and you should back up all your media before using it. There are also other limitations and bugs:

Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.6.5
As we promised, yesterday Apple released Mac OS X 10.6.5 update for Snow Leopard, which now available via Software Update. The public release is the same Build 10H574 that was seeded to developers on Monday. The 10.6.5 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Another Apple's patent application reveals new methods of protecting electronic devices
New Apple's application with a title "Nitriding Stainless Steel for Consumer Electronic Products" was published this week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The document describes a cost-effective system, which can place a nitride layer on the surface of stainless steel exterior.

New 11.6- and 13.3 inch MacBook Airs Are Finally Unveiled
Few hours ago Steve Jobs presented two new MacBook Airs, which became the result of hooking up the iPad and a MacBook (according to his words). They have neither hard nor optical drive, as they keep all the data on the solid state drive. Here is how Steve Jobs explained such an innovation:
"MacBook Air is the first of a new generation of notebooks that leaves behind mechanical rotating storage in favor of solid state flash storage. We’ve taken what we have learned with the iPad—solid state storage, instant-on, amazing battery standby time, miniaturization and lightweight construction, to create the new MacBook Air. With its amazing responsiveness and mobility, it will change the way we think about notebooks."

Apple Patents: iPad with Landscape Docking, Smart Bezel Feature
Patently Apple does what they do and this morning they uncovered some patents that provide a peak into the future of the iPad. The first is a second 30-pin dock connector port on the left side of the iPad for landscape/horizontal docking.
Apple released iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch
Apple has released iOS 4.1 for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 2G, iPod Touch 3G and iPod touch 4G.
iOS 4.1 enables the Game Center social gaming network, support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos, and HD video uploading to YouTube. The update also fixes several bugs, including proximity sensor issues, performance issues and Bluetooth problems.
