Company Owning ‘IPHONE’ Trademark In Brazil Wiling To Sell It To Apple





Brazilian electronics manufacturer IGB Electronica SA that owns the 'IPHONE' trademark in Brazil said it is willing to negotiate selling its rights to the trademark to Apple following the release of a line of Android phones under the name 'IPHONE' in that country.  Bloomberg reports:

Apple moved one notch down on the list of most trusted companies



Apple has come out the top 20 list of largest organizations of consumer confidence. Apple's rate is 21 in the list of most trusted companies, and it is the lowest ranking in three years. Consumers were asked to name the organization, which they consider to be the most reliable in the privacy of their personal information in the survey.

iPhone Users Spend The Most For Monthly Carrier Bills



AllThingsD reports on a new research from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners showing that iPhone users on average spend the most for monthly carrier bills. The research company polled smartphone users in the period from October to December 2012 and found that 59% of iOS users spend more than $100 per month.

Apple Said Nearly 300 Million Devices Are Running iOS 6



Today, Apple published an iOS 6.1 press release revealing some impressive numbers on iOS platform and iOS 6.1 usage. As of today, 300 million iOS devices – iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone – are running iOS 6, with 450 billion iMessages sent, over four trillion notifications received and nine billion photos uploaded to Photo Stream.

In Q4 2012 Android And iOS Captured Record 92% Of Global Smartphone Market



According to the Strategy Analytics’ latest research measuring global smartphone OS shipments for the fourth quarter of 2012, Android and iOS together represented 92% of all shipments. Both operating systems were able to considerably increase their market shares over Q3, with global smartphone shipments over the year reaching a record 700.1 million units.

The new iPad 5 release is set for October. Work on producing iPhones and cheap versions of iPhone continues

How Apple Prevented Verizon From Adding Siri To Droid handsets



According to a report from The Huffington Post, Verizon tried to bring Siri’s technology to Droid phones long before Apple bought the voice assistant app.

The carrier signed a contract with the startup company in 2009 to include its functionality to Droid smartphones, and it even filmed commercials showing Siri as an Android add-on. But the deal with Big Red fell apart when Apple purchased what has become one of the iPhone’s most popular features, which subsequently stopped competitors from adding the service to their devices. Amazon Expands In-App Purchase Service To Include PC, Mac And Web Apps



Today Amazon announced that it has expanded its In-App Purchase service to include virtual currencies and goods on PC, Mac and Web-based games. Previously Amazon has offered IAP for Kindle Fire and Android developers, that among other things allowed them to order physical goods from their apps.

Amazon And Apple Ordered To Enter Settlement Talks On ‘App Store’ Trademark



This month, a court dismissed Apple's false advertising lawsuit against Amazon in the legal dispute over the "App Store" trademark.

Apple and Amazon have been battling over the trademark for about two years, with Apple claiming the use of the "Appstore" name by Amazon to describe its online store for Android apps causes confusion amongst consumers and infringes upon App Store name.

Apple cut iPhone 5 component orders due to reduced demand




The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has cut a part of the orders for iPhone 5 this quarter due to weaker than expected demand.

"Apple's orders for iPhone 5 screens for the January-March quarter, for example, have dropped to roughly half of what the company had previously planned to order, two of the people said.

The Cupertino, Calif., company has also cut orders for components other than screens, according to one of the people.

Apple notified the suppliers of the order cut last month, the people said."

AT&T previously announces the results of iPhone sales in the fourth quarter of 2012

18,5% Of Mobile Phone Subscribers In U.S. Are Now Using iPhones



Today comScore published the results of its survey of mobile phone subscribers in U.S. for the September-November period, noting that 18.5% of mobile phone subscribers are using an iPhone, up 1.4% from the data for June-August timeframe. Samsung continues to lead the pack with 26.9% of the market share, up from 25,7% in the previous period, while LG, HTC and Motorola lost their shares.
