Early in the morning Apple has updated its entire line of iPods for fall 2010, thereby providing iPod touch with the same characteristics as iPhone 4 has. iPod nano will get multi-touch screen, and iPod shuffle - buttons.

Apple has already released new commercials: one for iPod nano and another one for iPod touch. These commercials show major innovations for iPod that were introduced during its development.

The recently released application MiTime for the iPhone 4 fixes and activates FaceTime on unlocked iPhone 4s that run on T-Mobile USA or other unofficial unsupported carriers. According to the MiTime’s description, it should work with almost any carrier in the world. You should be able to receive international SMS messages to activate FaceTime via MiTime.

The application MiTime sends two international SMS messages for activation, so it can not be free. Thus, until there is no other way to activate FaceTime on unlocked iPhone 4s, this is the only way with an affordable price.

Apple is testing the first material update to its iOS 4.0, next-generation iPod touches, an iPad revision, and an "unknown" product.

The latest beta of iOS 4.1 includes three new "Configuration Descriptors" within its USB configuration files - all of which pertain to devices that list "Apple, Inc." as their "manufacturer" (see screenshot).

The first product, a fourth-generation iPod touch, is referenced as "iPod 4,1." This year's iPod touch calls for models akin to iPhone 4, equipped with dual cameras, FaceTime support, Apple's A4 processor, and Retina Display.

The second product referenced in the USB configuration files is "iProd 2,1." All indications are that this device represents a material update to the iPad.

Finally, is a previously undiscovered mention of a mysterious device listed as "unknownHardware." Although the configuration files tag this device with Apple product ID of 20547, it's textual descriptor is similarly listed as "Unknown- Add device descriptor info for this device." It's possible that those place holders are to be dubbed iTV - capable of running App Store applications and based on iOS 4.0 platform.

This Tuesday well-known blogger John Gruber posted a note on his Daring Fireball blog, where he said that the upcoming tablet device from Dell called Streak will cost $550 (without a contract from AT&T) and that new iPod touch will have new features that Streak doesn't have.

"That's almost twice as much as a good iPod touch, and if you wait a few weeks to buy the Touch, you'll get one with a Retina Display and dual cameras. If Dell can't make an iPod touch competitor, who can?"

Though Gruber did not say whether he obtained this information from his sources or not, previous rumors confirm that the next-gen iPod touch will support FaceTime (which requires two cameras).

Macrumors have found a new option in the iOS "Contacts" application that allows users to make FaceTime calls using either a phone number or an email address. This basically adds FaceTime functionality to non-iPhone devices such as iPads and iPods. Email FaceTime support will also increase the privacy, since it will be allowed to make calls without showing out the phone number.

This Thursday Macrumors received photos of one of the next-gen iPod touch parts, which reveal a hole above the display that will be most likely used for the camera. The pictures were sent by an unknown iPhone parts supplier.

Previously some resources reported about the presence of a camera and flash on the back of upcoming iPod touch. If all this information is true, the next-gen device will have two cameras to support FaceTime like the iPhone 4.

Apple wanted to build camera into the last iPod touch a year ago, but due to the technical problems the decision was annulled. When the final version of the player appeared on the market a space for camera was found inside of it after disassembling.

FaceTime support in iPod touch will be no surprise as previously Steve Jobs said that this year Apple will ship millions of devices compatible with FaceTime.

Today ChangeWave Research revealed the results of its survey on iPhone 4. 213 new handset owners were questioned in a few weeks after the launch of the latest Apple's smartphone, between July 19 and 28. Here is a list of facts that were revealed:

• In June 6.3% of iPhone 3GS owners experienced dropped calls, in July only 5.2% of those who use iPhone 4 had dropped a call at least once. ChangeWave Research's vice president Paul Carton says that means that iPhone 4 is quiet better at making calls:

"Despite all of the issues surrounding the antenna, in actuality iPhone 4 owners reported experiencing fewer dropped calls on the average than iPhone 3GS owners".

Guys from 9to5mac decided to count how much data FaceTime uses over 3G. They made a 5 minute test call, and concluded that FaceTime takes 3 Mb every minute. Not much at all!

Here are the screenshots before and after the call.

FaceTime feature gives users the possibility to make  voice calls. Apple restricted this feature to Wi-Fi only. Today it became possible to use it over 3G!

Setup Instructions:

1. Jailbreak your iPhone 4 via www.jailbreakme.com.
2. Download and upgrade to the latest Cydia package.
3. Open Cydia, Go to Manage then Sources.
4. Click Sources, Edit then add: http://apt.modmyi.com
5. Search for "My3G" -- download, and install it. It costs $2.79. My3G makes Apps believe that they are on WiFi instead of 3G.
6. Go through the Rock setup process with a username and password. Open My3G and leave all settings on the default.
7. FaceTime should now work over 3G! -- Make sure to "Forget" the WiFi network you are on (via iOS settings) if you want to test it.

We haven't seen any difference between the 3G FaceTime call and a WiFi FaceTime call. The quality is very good.

Many users reported that the first version of JailbreakMe broke the FaceTime and MMS features. The DevTeam fixed the bug.

New JailbreakMe users should simply proceed normally. The new version will not remove FaceTime or MMS from the iPhone.

Users who already installed JailbreakMe can get an easy fix. They should simply run Cydia and upgrade to the latest software.

Invent the newest gadget and the porn industry will find a way to cash in. Associated Press reports:

When Apple Inc. launched the iPhone 4 and its FaceTime video conference feature, it didn't take long for adult-entertainment companies to develop video-sex chat services and start hiring workers through Craigslist.

We all remember how Steve Jobs talked about iPhone's and iPad's "freedom from porn" in email conversation. It looks like in real life FaceTime and new iPhone 4 will push forward porn industry.

MuscleNerd, hacker from DevTeam, commented via twitter on recent rumors that universal jailbreak (all iPhones and all firmwares, including iPhone 4 and iOS 4.0.1) will be released today. The basic answer is no, there will be no jailbreak today.

Not to make it a daily thing, but since somehow people thought it would be today: the new JB+unlock won't be out today

(there are issues with important apps like Facetime that need to be figured out...no sense releasing a half-broken JB)
