FaceTime, Camera and PhotoBooth Icons Confirm Camera in iPad 2

iOS4.3apps

Apple's developer release of iOS 4.3 Beta 2 includes the three new app icons. This includes FaceTime, Camera and Photo Booth. The images were found in the latest beta and are used by iOS to show a preview of your wallpaper selection. These icons do not exist on the images contained in iOS 4.2. no unlock

The iPhone Dev-Team has announced via Twitter that they will release new unlock only after release of iOS 4.2.5 or 4.3. It is a little bit surprising and of course disappointing for many but overall in the best interests of the community.

The statement claims: “Official iPhone unlock statement: no unlock will be released until after 4.2.5 or official 4.3 (whichever is last) is out.”

A recent tweet from MuscleNerd confirms the rumors: "I hear geohot does have an untether actually! Though not for all devices".

Apple confirms New Year's alarm bug, says to wait until Jan 3

Clock bug

Apple has confirmed an iOS bug where one-time alarms had stopped functioning after the device's clock had ticked over to January 1, 2011. Non-repeating alarms fail to ring on the first few days of the new year. As reported, the issue  affects devices running the iOS 4.2.1, the latest version of iOS. Apple recommends users to set recurring alarms until January 3, when the alarms will resume working properly.

Apple spokesperson Natalie Harrison said: “We are aware of an issue related to non repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2. Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3.”

Is Rubyra1n Geohot’s Next Jailbreak Tool?

rubyra1n

May be soon we will jailbreak our devices with a new tool from George Hotz (better known as Geohot) called Rubyra1n. On March 27, 2010 George Hotz registered two domains limera1n.com and blackra1n.com, another jailbreak tool Hotz released last year. The new rubyra1n, however, doesn’t share the same data with limera1n.com — an app released in October to jailbreak iOS 4.1. Geohot doesn’t comment these rumors anyhow, but we, obviously, wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him coming out with his own iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for all devices.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Is an 'Over-Sized Phone', Not Tablet

samsung-galaxy-tab-acid3

Sencha, which is a web application developer, has recently compared Android-based Samsung Galaxy Tab and Apple's iPad and made a conclusion that a Samsung's tablet is "a little bit of disappointment".

As Sencha develops different JavaScript frameworks that enable developers to creating rich mobile apps for Android and iOS devices built from web standards, the company is interested to know how good actual products perform and support HTML5 and related web standards. The latter include overall JavaScript performance, embedded multimedia playback, Web Sockets, Canvas animations, SVG and advanced CSS3 transforms. Here are the results received by Sencha in their tests of Galaxy Tab and iPad:

Apple disabled jailbreak detection API in iOS 4.2

jailbreak API

Apple has reportedly disabled its jailbreak detection API through iOS 4.2 software update. The API helped third-party mobile device management (MDM) applications to check for unauthorized modifications of system files. Apple's jailbreak detection API provided MDM applications direct access to iOS system information and was able to ask the operating system directly if it had been jailbroken. Jailbreak exploits typically change a number of operating system files, and exploit one or another low-level OS features to let users directly load their own or third-party applications.

MobileMe users report about multiply bugs in the service. Some of them do not satisfy with service's email, photo/file hosting, and syncing capabilities and experience performance and access issues while others believe that the $99 annual price is too high.
