MuscleNerd, a popular hacker and member of the evad3rs, has revealed that the upcoming iOS 6.1 jailbreak will support all 22 device variations and likely the atv2.
@MuscleNerd is every other device supported?
@unicornhacker yes, every other 6.1 device variation will be supported. All TWENTY-TWO of them (omg!). Plus atv2 if it's out in time.
Unfortunately, with the exploit that's being used, the Apple TV 3 will not be supported.
@MuscleNerd @evad3rs_jb So those of us with atv3 still have to wait for a bootrom
@arovik not necessarily. Although atv3 uses far fewer services that can be tampered with, it's not isolated. But it can't use this next JB
After iOS 6.1 Beta 5 for developer’s release, Apple has just added iOS 6.1 for public. This update includes support for new LTE connectivity and purchasing Siri -based tickets to the cinema through Fandango, much as individual downloads of songs in iTunes Match and a new button ' reset ' to track advertising.
"This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:
LTE support for more carriers (complete list of supported carriers at www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/)
Purchase movie, tickets through Fandango with Siri (USA only)
iTunes Match subscribers can now download individual songs from iCloud
Apple has seeded a new beta of iOS 6.1 to developers for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It was widely expected that Apple would release either a GM or a fifth beta this weekend since the current fourth beta for 6.1 expires on Monday.
Developers can download the ipsw from the developer center. It should be also available via Software Update shortly.
Pod2g confirmed that the Evad3rs Dev-Team is ready with a jailbreak for iOS 6.1 and credits Planetbeing and Pimskeks for the accomplishment in an interview with iDigitalTimes.
"For your information and this is important to me that everybody knows about it also, this jailbreak will be @planetbeing and @pimskeks. I arrived at the end, gave ideas that pushed them to their maximum, I kinda unblocked the situation, but it would certainly have happened without me helping."
Another progress on the public jailbreak is reported by hacker planetbeing recently. Planetbeing has given us hope that a public jailbreak is near with his latest tweet.
Tons of progress the last few days. I think the future is looking bright for jailbreaking.
So here’s something we haven’t heard in a while: good news on the jailbreak front. Pod2g and planetbeing have found two new vulnerabilities for future iOS 6 jailbreak. Unfortunately the initial code execution for a public jailbreak release is still missing.
Made some nice progress today with @pod2g. I think I'll try to reward myself with a nap.
pod2g: @planetbeing oh yeah! 2 new vulnerabilities in a day, chance was with us. But we still miss that initial code execution for a public jb :/
It's great that progress is being made. Hopefully, the two find that last piece of the puzzle and are able to release their jailbreak to rest of us.
The recently released update of IOS 6.0.2 for the iPhone 5 and IPad mini, could solve some of the issues associated with Wi-Fi, but some users say that the software reduced battery life.
Apple has given little attention to updating the app switcher in its iOS since its introduction in iOS 4, so interface designer @Sentry_NC has tried his hand at developing a new concept for fast app switching in iOS.
In October, he introduced a mockup of iOS app switcher on The Verge forum, which takes advantage of the elongated screen on the iPhone 5 and provides easy access to app management tools and settings.
Passbook was one of the main features added to iOS 6, enabling companies to deliver loyalty cards, gift cards, coupons, tickets and other items to a centralized digital wallet for the iPad touch and iPhone.
Although the feature is handy addition that utilizes time and location-based awareness to help you use Passbook passes when needed, it is not a true digital wallet based on hardware technologies such as field communications (NFC).
Using this tutorial you will be able to create a custom firmware, tether jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 running on iPod Touch 4G. This tutorial uses Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 for Windows.
Tethered jailbreak means that each time you restart your device you will need to connect it to a computer and run iBooty.
