CiccareseDesign has created a new set of renderings and even a 3D model of the 7.85-inch "iPad mini" setting up for an October debut. The design is based on the numerous rumors, part leaks, and work by case manufacturers who are trying to determine what the device will look like in order to have their products ready for sale as soon as possible. As far as you know, the 7.85-inch iPad offers 66% of the surface area of the current 9.7-inch iPad and almost 40% more surface area than competing 7-inch tablets.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo with KGI Securities claims that the smaller iPad will feature industry leading "GF Ditto," otherwise known as GF2, touchscreen technology. He said that Apple will be the first company in the world to commercialize and mass produce GF Ditto technology.
Apple Issues Invitations for Media Event on September 12
The Loop reports that Apple on Tuesday sent out invitations for an upcoming media event scheduled for next week Wednesday, September 12. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and begins at 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern. The tagline on the invitation is simply "It's almost here."
Apple's OS X passes Windows Vista in worldwide usage
The latest monthly data of desktop operating shares from Net Applications shows that total Web usage of Apple's OS X operating system has exceeded Microsoft's Windows Vista. Microsoft's Windows Vista fell in August to 6.15 percent of tracked Web usage. Meanwhile, Apple's latest operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, grew to 1.34 percent.

Bloomberg reports now that Apple and Qualcomm in an attempt to diversify their mobile processor supply chain each put forth investment bids topping $1 billion to secure exclusive access to chip supplies from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Alleged Apple 'iPad mini' cases show rear camera, mystery hole
