Apple patents interface for 3D objects creation

Apple is going to obtain a patent for 'Working with 3D objects'. It implies the technology of generating, modifying, and manipulating 3D objects with the help of 3D gesture inputs.

Three-dimensional objects can be modified using 3D gesture inputs. For example, a 3D object shown on a touch-sensitive display can be detected, and a 3D gesture input that includes a movement of a finger or a pointing device in proximity to a surface of the touch-sensitive display can be detected. Detecting the 3D gesture input can include measuring a distance between the finger or the pointing device and a surface of the display. The 3D object can be modified according to the 3D gesture input, and the updated 3D object can be shown on the touch-sensitive display.

The 3D object can be generated based on two types of inputs. The first is a touch or a two-dimensional (2D) gesture input. The second is 3D gesture input which implies detecting a movements in proximity to a surface of the screen.

Apple to launch graphics card replacement program for iMacs

According to information provided by 9to5Mac, Apple is starting a replacement program for the graphics card used in some mid-2011 iMacs.

Apple has determined that some AMD Radeon HD 6970M video cards used in 27-inch iMac computers with 3.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 or 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processors may fail, causing the computer’s display to appear distorted, white or blue with vertical lines, or to turn black. iMac computers with affected video cards were sold between May 2011 and October 2012.

In order to get the graphic card replaced the serial number of your iMac should finish with one of the following groups (for example, xxxxxxxxDHJQ):
● DHJQ, DHJW, DL8Q, DNGH, DNJ9, or DMW8
● DPM1, DPM2, DPNV, DNY0, DRVP, DY6F, F610

The video below describes the graphics issue. If you own one of the Macs models mentioned above, the AMD graphics card will be replaced for free for three years from the computer's purchase date. If the card is already replaced at your expense, you may get  refund.

The new Apple TV to launch in November?

According to venture capitalist and former TechCrunch reporter MG Siegler, Apple is likely to be planning a television product for launch in November. He made the following comments on John Gruber's podcast, "Mule Radio".

Not to go into rumor central here but the latest things like I've heard are some sort of television product — not necessarily a television screen but something — could be coming as soon as this November. And I think there's some surprises there about what it could actually be and I don't for sure what it could actually be but there's been whispers about, so I'm not going to write anything about it, but there's whispers out there that the interaction with it could be the interesting thing. People have talked about voice, but I think that's out the window and there might be some new way to interact with whatever this thing is.

Apple Released iOS 7 Beta 6 to Developers

Apple has released iOS 7 Beta 6 today, so you’re welcome to download it. This release should have occurred next week, but somehow the company from Cupertino decided not to wait for so long. According to the rumors, this is the last Beta before the official iOS 7 release on September 10th.

The size of the new update is only 13.5MB, so obviously it includes only some minor changes and bug fixes. Anyway, if there would be some improvements that are worth mentioning, I’ll immediately inform you.

So far, the only thing I know is that this Beta fixes the problem with iTunes in the Cloud connected with content downloads and purchases.
