Amazon’s Tablet Is Expected In 60 Days. Will It Present Serious Challenge To iPad?

Amazon tablet PC

We’ve heard rumors that Amazon is planning multiple mobile devices and their chief Jeff Bezos teased us to “stay tuned”.

Besides, they cut the Kindle’s price by $60 and made the device open for developers in reaction to original iPad release.

As DigiTimes reports, Amazon is readying to launch the tablet PC powered by Android at some moment from August to September, which is the narrowest time frame of possible release given by the market sources:

Court Denies Samsung Request To See iPhone 5 and iPad 3

Apple-Samsung

Let us remind you some facts about the legal battle between Apple and Samsung.  Samsung filed the countersuit in response to the Apple’s suit, where demanded Apple hand over the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 or their newest prototypes to investigate them and to avoid misunderstanding in future. Though, Judge denied Samsung’s request, having explained that “Apple’s request for expedited discovery was far more justified and far less prejudicial”. Apple required early access to all Samsung’s new devices.

The judge made a lot of effort in her 11-page order to explain that Samsung is entitled to “parity” but its motion was overreaching in this case. Instead, it may be necessary for the court to evaluate such a motion against the background of the iPhone 5 (as far as any Samsung phones are concerned) and the iPad 3 (as far as any Samsung tablet computers are concerned), whenever Apple is in a position to present those products.

Samsung’s Lawyers Ask Apple To See iPhone 5 and iPad 3

samsung suit

Samsung’s lawyers have asked Apple to hand over “final, commercial versions” of the next-generation iPhone and iPad and the retail packaging design of the devices. The company wants to evaluate if their future products, like the Droid Charge and the Galaxy Tab 10.1, could have similar features with them. This countersuit was filed after Samsung was asked to hand over Apple its prototypes of the Droid Charge, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Infuse 4G and Galaxy S 2. In order to avoid future confusion with the Apple’s products, Samsung is asking the court to apply the same procedure that granted Apple’s lawyers access to Samsung’s upcoming products.

Samsung Will Hand Over Prototypes of Phones and Tablets to Apple

samsung

The legal battle between Apple and Samsung — sued for allegedly copying the “look and feel” of the iPhone and iOS with its Galaxy devices — it’s far from over. Apple  is now asking Samsung to hand over prototypes of unreleased phones and tablets for legal scrutiny. With the federal court ruling that Samsung will have to send these units to Apple’s legal team, Samsung is being forced to send the unreleased Droid Charge, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 to Apple, though the other two devices mentioned, the Infuse 4G and Galaxy S 2, have already been released publicly in the United Kingdom and United States, respectively.

HP Is Going To Outrun Apple And Become "Number One Plus"

HP-TouchPad

Journalist Matt Warman from The Daily Telegraph has recently posted a claim of HP's European head Eric Cador, who told at a press conference in Cannes that the company's devices will eventually overtake Apple's iPad:

OmniVision Introduces 5 MP Sensor With 1080p Video Recording

iPhone-Camera

DigiTimes claimed that the new iPhone 4S would contain an 8 MP camera from OmniVision Technologies, and to some degree it makes sense. Sony’s CEO in April made a fleeting comment suggesting that it would be supplying Apple with an 8MP camera for the next iPhone.

OmniVision  introduced a new 5MP image sensor, the OV5690, that was developed to produce the “best-in-class image quality” whilst being an effective solution for slimmer mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers by reducing the size of the camera module. With contradicting reports on whether the next iPhone will contain a 5 MP camera or an 8 MP camera, this new product certainly lends weight to the suggestion that it could have a 5 MP camera.

Large Pharmaceutical Companies Subscribing iPads to Sales Reps

Pharma2

Pharmaceutical sales reps are trying to find better ways to engage and sale their products during all their sales calls. Doctors and physicians typically only give these sales reps 30 seconds of their time as well. That’s not very much time so every second is important, and so is presentation.

Eric Newmark, an analyst at IDC Health Insights, says that sales reps “still struggle with their ability to differentiate themselves through clear, concise, and interactive messaging.” So the pharmaceutical industry may have a solution to the problem: Purchase many Apple iPads to give the sale reps “a quicker, lighter and more attractive way of displaying drug-related information,” Newmark wrote.

Light Leakage Issues with LG Displays Caused iPad Shortages Last Quarter

ipad2

Apple reported surprisingly low iPad shipments of only 4.69 million units for the first quarter. DigiTimes reports that the last quarter iPad 2 shortages were caused by production issues with displays and built-in speaker of the device. LG Display was one of the primary sources of iPad supply issues, experiencing problems with light leakage on displays produced by its manufacturing lines that scaled back shipments. The issue is said to have been resolved.

. . .Samsung Electronics shipped a total of four million 9.7-inch panels for iPads in the first quarter, outpacing rival LG Display (LGD) as the largest tablet PC panel supplier for Apple, the sources indicated. LGD's iPad panel shipments reached only 3.2 million units in the first quarter.

LGD was forced to reduce its shipments in the first quarter due to light leakage problem for panels produced at its 6G production lines. The company reportedly has fixed the problem and will resume shipment momentum to Apple in the second quarter, said the sources.
