iPhone 8 to Get New Fingerprint Scanner, Production to Start in September
According to the latest report from Digitimes, Apple will replace the Touch ID fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 8 with a new system developed internally. The fingerprint scanner embedded in the display of the OLED iPhone will be based on technologies developed by firms Apple has acquired over the last couple of years, namely, Authentec and Privaris. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company will produce new fingerprint scanners using the 65-nanometer process. The report cites reliable insiders.

According to the latest report from Business Insider, Apple has a team of about 1,000 engineers working on augmented reality and related technologies. The team is reportedly located in Israel. First systems created by these people may be added to the iPhone 8, sources claim. The report is based on research conducted by UBS.
Apple Took 3rd Place in Top Smartwatch Vendors List
Apple’s share in the wearables market grew 13% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2016. The company shipped 4.6 million Apple Watch units and took 13.6% of market. This allowed the manufacturer to take the third spot in the ranking shared by a research firm IDC representing top vendors of smartwatches and other wearable devices. The first place of the ranking is occupied by Fitbit, that lost 22.7% of the market share and the second one – by Xiaomi. The fourth and the fifth spots are taken by Garmin and Samsung.

According to the latest report from reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple won’t switch to ditch the Lightning connector in favor of USB-C. Instead, the company will improve the port so that all new iPhone models support fast charging.

Apple has included the second-generation Apple TV in the list of obsolete devices. The set-top box was released in 2010 and became the first one to get a black body and an aluminum remote. The South Korean manufacturer also shared several ads to reassure customers that all phones pass numerous security checks and tests before they are released. This is a step aimed at making people believe that the Galaxy Note 7 disaster won’t happen with new models.
As for the Galaxy S8, it will get a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, an iris scanner, and a number of other new features.
