Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes published yesterday an interesting report. The publication names possible suppliers of integrated circuits for iPad 3. They are Capella Microsystems (ambient light sensors), Richtek Technology (integrated power management), Novatek Microelectronics (LCD driver) and Integrated Memory Logic (programmable gamma/Vcom buffer solutions).
China is a home not only of fake iPhones, but also of fake Apple Stores. A fake Apple Store is shown on the pictures from BirdAbroad (via IFOAppleStore). This store is a complete fake with everything that the Apple Store has. It offers all from blue shirts with logos of Apple to name labels for the staff. This store features a light exterior with a luminous, white Apple logo shining in the most conspicuous place.
Current.com.au (via The Next Web) reports that Apple’s spokesperson has apparently stated that the company is going to open 33 stores during the next two months. After implementing its plan, Apple will have 363 stores instead of current 330 locations by the end of fiscal 2011. With this pace, Apple will set up one store every 50 hours during the next two months.
Apple has eventually kept up with the demand for iPad 2 after 4 scanty months since the release of the device. The US Store currently offers shipping times of 1-3 days for the tablet, as well as for other Apple products that aren’t limited. However, Apple limits purchases to 1-2 items per order and many foreign stores still list shipping times of 3-5 business days or even longer.
Reuters reports that Taiwanese maker TSMC has started a test production run of A6 processors designed for future Apple handsets. TSCM is not yet confirmed as the manufacturer of Apple’s A6 processors, but it is said that decision is already “authorized”. The only reason for delaying the deal is the potential yield rate of the chip production.
The iPhone Dev-Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.8b3 which can perform a tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.4. This means that you will have to connect your device to a computer and run redsn0w each time you restart.
For the convenience of kernel hackers like @comex and @i0n1c, we have a new redsn0w 0.9.8b3 that supports a TETHERED jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 on all devices that have 4.3.4 except the iPad2. The vast majority of people will want to stay back at 4.3.3 because that's where the untethered jailbreak is! There are no new features in 4.3.4 - only fixes for jailbreak exploits.
Also, this is a good time to remind everyone (since we're still seeing confusion about this): iPad2 owners with a baseband (3G or CDMA) cannot currently use saved blobs to go back to 4.3.3 once the signing window is closed. This is unlike every other device, so don't be confused! iPad2 owners with basebands should stay away from all updates to maintain your jailbreak!
This jailbreak works with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G. It does not work with iPad 2.

Sales of $40 magnetic smart covers designed to protect the iPad 2 amounted to collective $300 million for Apple in recent quarter, as BMO Capital's analyst Keith Bachman said on Monday in his note to investors. Half of that figure makes up pure profit for the company. Read the rest of this entry »

Apple has finally fixed the iPad 2 availability problems, as it is now quoting just 3-5 business days on every model of the iPad 2. We could see the same availability back in March, after that it grew upto 5 weeks.
If you are planning to buy an iPad 2, now could be the time to do it. However there are constant rumors an iPad 2 HD coming later this year in October. So you might want just to wait a bit.
There have appeared new rumours about a higher-resolution iPad. The iPad HD will be launched later this year and will be sold alongside the iPad 2. The device was developed for pro-users in the video and photo-industries. There will be also launched the iPad-versions of pro-level apps such as Final Cut Pro or Aperture.
Our sources are saying that not only will there be a newly designed iPhone coming in the fall, but there is going to be a new entry into the iPad family as well. As hard as it might be to believe, the new tablet is said to sport a double resolution screen (2048 x 1536), and will be dubbed the "iPad HD." The idea behind the product is apparently that it will be a "pro" device aimed at a higher end market - folks who work in video and photo production possibly - and will be introduced alongside something like an iPad version of Final Cut or Aperture. This product is specifically said to not be the iPad 3, rather a complimentary piece of the iPad 2 line.
This is step-by-step instructions on how to perform untethered jailbreak of your iPad 1 or iPad 2 with iOS 4.3.3 firmware using JailbreakMe. This jailbreak works in iPad Safari browser. You need a computer only to update to iOS 4.3.3.
