Apple's Smaller Dock Connector Coming to Entire iOS Device Lineup
iMore reports that Apple will be moving its entire lineup of iOS devices, including the new iPad, to the new connector later this year. As far as you remember, iMore was the first source to report that Apple will introduce a smaller dock connector with the launch of the next-generation iPhone.

New photos of the next-generation iPhone 5 SIM tray have surface online, claiming Apple’s plans to introduce a more compact "nano-SIM" standard alongside this year's iPhone launch. The photos of the empty SIM tray, published over at Nowhereelse.fr, reveal a design that will command roughly 40 percent less internal space when compared to existing micro-SIM cards. Sized roughly a third smaller than existing MicroSIM cards found inside current iPads and iPhones, the so-called nano-SIM design was reportedly modified back in May to address objections on the part of rival handset maker Nokia.

Phil Schiller took the stand today, describing Apple's development of the iPhone and iPad at a time when few believed the company could shake up the mobile industry, offering a bit of insight into the history of the iPhone. AllThingsD posted a summary of Schiller's comments.

iPad Outsold Samsung Tablets 7-to-1 In The Second Quarter
According to the estimates by IDC, tablet shipments reached 25 million units in the second quarter and Apple’s iPad accounted for 68% of that volume. IDC noted that despite high 117.6% year-over-year growth in shipments Samsung still saw its tablets significantly outnumbered by the iPad. Research director at IDC Tom Mainelli said:

Moreover, iOS 6 will receive a new Bluetooth 4.0 to improve share functionality between Apple’s devices. But these rumors contradict earlier reports claiming that the new dock on Apple's next iPhone will be a 19-pin design.
Sharp President Confirmed Shipments Of Displays For Next iPhone in August
Reuters, today at a press conference in Tokyo Sharp president Takashi Okuda made a public statement, acknowledging that Sharp will start shipping displays for the upcoming iPhone this month. Reuters said:
“Japan's Sharp Corp. said it will start shipping screens destined for a new Apple iPhone that is widely expected to be released in October ahead of the pre-Christmas shopping season. Shipments will start in August.”
Nitrous Tweak brings the Nitro Javascript Engine to iPhone Apps, makes them work faster
Nitrous is a new tweak from Joe Jordan that unlocks the Nitro Javascript engine to give third party iPhone apps like Google Chrome, Twitter and others a speed boost.
The Nitro JavaScript engine is an advanced bytecode JavaScript engine that makes web browsing fast. It powers Safari on OS X and iOS. Unfortunately Nitro is only available to Apple apps such as Safari and iBooks. Nitrous tweak lets you grant this access to other apps.

Samsung Publicly Released Excluded Evidence In Apple Trial
Samsung’s pre-iPhone designs such as design of F700 smartphone have been known for a long time but Judge Lucy Koh did not allow Samsung to use that information as an evidence in the trial with Apple. Being displeased with the decision, Samsung sent the images that were barred by the court to and other publications saying:
“The excluded evidence would have established beyond doubt that Samsung did not copy the iPhone design.”
Apple Considered Making A Major Investment Into Twitter
The New York Times that “in recent months” Twitter and Apple were talking about a strategic investment in the amount of hundreds of millions dollars.
“There is no guarantee that the two companies, which are not in negotiations at the moment, will come to an agreement. But the earlier talks are a sign that they may form a stronger partnership amid intensifying competition from the likes of Google and Facebook”.

Wired UK, Apple head of design Jonathan Ive took part in a session yesterday at the Global Business Summit where he shared some of his thoughts about the creative process at Apple. AllThingsD has now put together a gallery of dozens of images of the early iPhone and iPad prototype designs from the court documents revealed during the ongoing lawsuit between Apple and Samsung.
Among the many filings on Saturday was a document with dozens of sketches and prototypes for both the iPhone and iPad. Some had already been included in earlier filings, but Saturday’s collection was particularly extensive.
