Mac-OS-X-Lion

AppleInsider reports that its sources familiar with Apple’s plans claim that this summer the company will offer some iCloud features and services for free for users who will upgrade to Mac OS X Lion. According to recent rumors, iCloud will replace MobileMe.

People familiar with Apple’s plans indicated to AppleInsider that at least one of those secrets is expected to be that at least some of the services included in iCloud will be offered for free to Mac users who make the upgrade to Lion. iCloud is expected to replace the company’s existing MobileMe service, which offers e-mail and remote file storage, along with syncing of bookmarks, contacts and calendar events, at a price tag of $99 per year. Price of MacBook Air refurbs at the Apple Store dropped to $829

refurbishedMBA This Saturday, price of MacBook Air refurbs at the Apple Store dropped. Now, the price of the base model is just $829, which is $30 lower than it was before. There is an opinion that Apple is preparing for refresh by means of clearing some inventory out. It should be noted that there is a big difference between such notions as "used" and "refurbished". The latter is supported by Apple one-year warranty, can hardly be distinguished from a new one and can serve you almost as long as an unused model.

Nike+ GPS App Becomes Temporarily Free

nike-plus-summary

Five years ago, Swoosh has released its Nike+ iPod kit intended for the morning jogging fans. To celebrate the anniversary of this event, Nike offers for free its Nike+ app at the App Store, the regular price of which is $2. The app is based on the iPhone’s GPS and MotionX technologyto track your jogging route (as in some places the GPS signals are weak, the MotionX tech is intended to bridge the gaps). The same technology by the way has been used in Jawbone’s stunning new Era Bluetooth headset.

You can download it here to enjoy the app and its additional motivational features and post-run sharing options.

And hurry up, as the app will probably become paid again.

ipad 2

9to5mac reports that Apple starts officially selling the iPad 2 in Russia and Ukraine this Friday, May 27. The Russian iPad 2 sales will begin this Friday through retail chain Re:Store, with MediaMarkt, Beliy Veter Cifrovoi, ION, Technosila and Eldorado also looking to jump on board for the May 27 rollout. Retailers are expecting “unprecedented demand” for the iPad 2, which doesn’t surprise considering the device’s popularity and the lack of Apple’s retail presence in Russia.

iPad 2 might have Samsung Super PLS display

super-pls-lcd-samsung

Rumors say that display of future iPad 2 will be updated to Super PLS. It does not mean it will have a better resolution. iPad 2 will utilize the same 1024 x 768 display as the current iPad, Super PLS is just a different technology and it is better.

Current iPad, as well as the iPhone 4, use a technology called IPS. It provides outstanding viewing angles. However Samsung’s PLS technology is even better. The viewing angles provided by PLS are improved. In addition to that Super PLS display is generally 10% brighter than the IPS technology. And the best part is that they cost around 15% less to manufacture than IPS displays.

iPad 2 is expected to launch sometime this quarter.
