The week has nearly come to an end, so looks like I have to tell you about top stories of the past seven days. This time they deal mostly with Apple’s new gadgets and firmware.
The company from Cupertino will release the final version of its iOS 7.1 to the public no sooner than in March. Apart from the new mobile operating system, Apple is expected to unveil the next-generation Apple TV.
The evad3rs have released an updated evasi0n 7.0.5 that brings the ability to jailbreak iOS 7.0.5. The iOS 7.0.5 was released earlier this week for the some iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models (the GSM + CDMA editions).
Pod2g noted the change on twitter
Hi there! evasi0n 1.0.5 with support for iOS 7.0.5 is up on http://evasi0n.com .
Looks like Apple has found a way to prevent people from jailbreaking their iOS devices. According to iH8sn0w, iOS 7.1 beta 5, released on Tuesday, patches two exploits used to jailbreak Apple’s smartphones and tablets. Keep in mind that the fourth beta patched another vulnerability used by evasi0n7. It appears that beginning from iOS 7.1, it would be impossible to hack your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. And that is definitely not good.
It’s Sunday again. Like every Sunday, I’d like to share with some of the most important and interesting stories of the last week. Many worth mentioning events took place, so if you think you missed something, don’t waste your time and take a look at our top posts.
Looks like it is possible to make any A5(X) device jailbreakable once and forever. Well, at least this is what iH8sn0w tweeted yesterday. What this all means is that your iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad mini, Apple TV 3G, and iPod touch 5G can be jailbroken literally for life.
I0n1c confirmed that it is safe to update to iOS 7.0.5 if you have a jailbroken device. This version of Apple’s mobile operating system is still vulnerable to the evasi0n7 jailbreak exploits. Here’s what the hacker posted on Twitter:
Okay #evasi0n7 still works in iPhone 5s at 7.0.5
Apple has just released iOS 7.0.5 to users worldwide. This is a minor update that contains only bugfixes - no serious improvements, tweaks or stuff like that. This update is said to be helpful for those Chinese iPhone 5s and iPhone 5C owners who have problems with network.
A new tweak has recently appeared on Cydia that lets you use your iPhone 5 or iPod touch to capture slow motion videos, even though these devices are believed to not support a slow motion mode. The tweak is called Slo-mo Mod and it is available for free on BigBoss repo.
Do not expect iOS 7.1 jailbreak soon. Apple has reportedly blocked the kernel exploit used by the evasi0n 7 jailbreak utility. According to iH8sn0w the exploit was blocked in the recent iOS 7.1b4 firmware:
So the code sign bug that evasi0n7 uses still exists in 7.1b4. Kernel exploit looks patched though
meaning… Don’t expect an evasi0n7 update for 7.1b4+ support.
Good news for all those who miss iOS 6 - there’s a new tweak on Cydia that brings back the old school unlock sound. It is compatible with iPhones and iPads running iOS 7 and I must admit it works just perfect. It’s name is UnlockSound7.
The evad3rs have just released a new version of their jailbreak tool - evasi0n7 1.0.4, which is expected to bring numerous security improvements to the iOS 7 jailbreak.
It’s Sunday today, so I’ve decided to gather some of the most interesting stories of the past 7 days and bring them to you in this post.
This week’s top stories deal with jailbreak, Apple’s new iPhone 6 that is expected to be launched in 2014 and the purported iWatch release. You can take a look at the most interesting articles below.
Evad3rs have released a new version of their jailbreak tool. Evasi0n7 1.0.3 is compatible with computers running both OS X and Windows; it also contains a number of important fixes and improvements.
Many people don’t like iOS 7 and this has been proven by thousands or even millions of users who complain and ask Apple to bring back the old school design. Quite obvious, nobody will do that, so the only way to make your iOS 7 device look more like the iOS 6 gadget is to jailbreak it and use various Cydia tweaks to adjust the look of the operating system.
