Yankee Stadium banned iPad

yankee_stadium

Recently posted report from Associated Press reveals that a local team of the New York Yankeees, decided to ban the iPad from the world-famous Yankee stadium because of a security and safety issues. MLB Advanced Media Chief Executive Officer Bob Bowman said Business Insider that the real reason is that the Yankees don't want people to get distracted because of iPad and then getting hit with a ball. But IntoMobile notes that people will still have an ability to bring their iPads anyway.

"If you've got a loose-fitting jacket or some monstrous pockets on your blue jeans, you might be able to smuggle the tablet inside”.

It is interesting that the Yankee Stadium is one of the most tech-savvy parks with computer screens in their lockers.

Steve Jobs Feels Fine In a Year After Liver Trasplant

steve-jobs-vegan-buddhist

New information received by BusinessWeek from anonymous Apple employee reveals that Steve Jobs began to regularly visit Cupertino's office only in January, 2010, though he returned to work after liver transplant in June 2009.

BusinessWeek sought comments from Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and he said that he frequently speaks with his friend Steve Jobs and he looks healthy.

"Every time I hear him, he's doing a lot of work and a lot of thinking that's involved in that work, and those things sort of go away if you're very worried about your health".

Jobs announced about his temporary leaving in June 2009. He explained that the reason was about private matter. In September Jobs appeared at Apple's annual music event to present new iPods. It was his first appearance that year and that time he especially underlined his gratitude to a liver donor, who died in a car crash in his mid-20s.

After that Jobs was focused on iPad, and it is reported that he was personally involved in its development.

At this moment he is back at work and experts from Creative Strategies consulting firm say it is good news:

"Except for the fact that he's lost a lot of weight, he's the Steve Jobs of old. At the visionary level, technology and design level, he seems to be working at the same level he was before he was sick."

Apple develops Gianduia - an alternative to Flash

Gianduia

As you remember, last week Steve Jobs posted a letter about his thoughts on Flash and that same day Adobe’s CEO commented on it.  Sometime later chief technology officer Kevin Lynch also expressed his opinion on the situation:

"It's not about HTML5 vs. Flash. They're mutually beneficial. The more important question is the freedom of choice on the Web."

In the meantime, Instead of using plugin-based technologies like Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight, Apple created a new client-side framework Gianduia to produce quality online applications for retail users.

Last Friday California's Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team visited Gizmodo editor Jason Chen's home and seized 2 servers and 4 computers for a felony investigation of an iPhone 4G prototype. If to be exact, here is a list:

  • 16 Gb IPhone
  • AirPort Extreme
  • IBM ThinkPad

  • External hard drives and some other devices and accessories

1993 Interview - Steve Jobs About Paul Rand

Paul Rand is not a well-known person, but it was he who created logos for such famous companies like ABC Television, UPS, IBM and NeXT. He didn't actually design any of the logos for Apple, but he was chosen to be portrayed with an Apple logo for a print ad.

st-rand-designed-logo

Paul Rand

In 1993 Steve Jobs gave an interview to Alan Pottasch and Doug Evans. That was a time when he was a chief executive officer of NeXT and concentrated on porting their NeXTSTEP OS for x86 processors. That year Apple changed the guard from J. Sculley to M. Spindler.

At that interview Jobs spoke much about Rand as of an artist who became a "gem" for the company. He also says:

"When you scratch the surface of any of his work, you find out the depth of the intellectual problem solving that's taken place."

His speech reflects the ideal of current Apple's products. It is not only the hardware design that attracts people, it is also a software and the forseen interaction beneath it.

Apple billboard is adjudged to be illegal

BillBoard

CBS Outdoor claimed last week it will remove 2 Apple billboards because of a cease-and-desist letter, that was sent from the city attorney's office earlier.

But that is not the end of the problems for this advertising company, as it may hold the responsibility for that amount of time the ads were displayed. At the moment there is no information about whether Apple will assist anyhow or no.

The issue is induced by the continuing crackdown against "supergraphics" in Los Angeles. For the last few months many illegal signs have been removed. One of the resonsible persons even spent three days in jail for posting forbidden advertisements.

Apple also had problems with their ads before. The giant iPod Touch advertisement at 1205 N. Highland Ave. broke and felt down on the ground last October. Another banner became related to a political controversy, and one dubious Apple billboard was removed without explanation in November.

Microsoft may create Office for Apple iPad

ms-office

T3 is reporting that Mike Tedesco, Microsoft's Senior Product Manager for WindowsBU, stated that a version of Microsoft Office for the iPad is "something that we're looking at." Tedesco added that he couldn't make any official announcement today, but from the sounds of things, Microsoft is at least considering a version of Office for Apple's newest creation.

Bringing Office over to the iPad would go a long way toward establishing it as a legitimate productivity device.

New iPhone OS to Bring Contacts On Home Screen

According to a new patent application filed by Apple, the new and upcoming iPhone OS could offer contact icons on the home screen. These icons can be used to invoke apps, retrieve and display contacts information, or can be modified to display related info, tied to an individual contact. This patent, which was filed back in July 2008.

iPhonePatent2

The icon can also be used to invoke one or more applications that are personalized to the contact. The icon can be modified to display information related to the contact. In one aspect, an icon associated with an entity can be temporarily displayed on the mobile device based on the proximity of the mobile device to the entity.

The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office today has accepted Apple’s filing. This could probably mean that we may soon see this feature being introduced in the upcoming iPhone OS 4.0, which is expected to be announced with the next-gen iPhone in summer.
