cases

New Leaked Images of iPod Nano Cases

135421-ipod_nano_6_gen_mockup

Apple’s Special Event is just 2 days away, and fresh iPod rumors appear each day. Late last week there was a leak of information about a smaller iPod nano. Now there are more images from Asian websites showing screen protectors and additional cases, supposedly for a next-generation iPod nano as well.

One of the images is detailed enough, so we can try to establish some of the main features of the forthcoming device. In the edge of case there is a long slot that is certainly meant for Apple’s dock-connector, expected in the new iPod nano. The opposite edge is occupied by an elongated hole – most probably the slot for the on/off buton or the hold switch, like we can see on the already-existing iPod models.

Concept: Magic iRemote for iOS Apple TV/iTV

1

Dan Wineman’s concept, above, for an iOS-powered Apple TV/iTV remote that’s essentially an iPod touch without the screen, is interesting. Same accelerometer/gyro, same multitouch, same home button.

Such remote is gesture-based. Tap to pause, swipe left to rewind, swipe right to fast-forward. Slide up or down to adjust volume. Home key to exit to the menu, which you navigate by flicking and tapping.

John Gruber still isn’t sure if any intermediated device could work (though given you’ll be sitting 10 feet away, one certainly will have to). But the idea is pretty interesting. And if Apple does go for something like this, however, you just know they’d call it Magic iRemote.

2.8-inch iPod touch for $99!

image-1According to iLounge, at this week’s event Apple is planning to unveil its new 2.8-inch iPod touch sporting the same resolution as latest versions of the device. It is said that the current Nano’s screen is a bit smaller, only 2.4 inches. At the same time it is running on the same processor (although it has less RAM).

The idea is pretty good, because it will help fill the gap between your Nano and Shuffle devices.

Some users believe that they would have difficulties in typing on 2.8-inch iPod touch, but we are sure that kids will really appreciate it. And the price is pretty funny, right?

Yet it is a very interesting concept. Just imagine Wi-Fi, web browser, email, 250, 000 applications from the App Store, maps, videos, photos and much more for $ 100 dollars. Is it tempting?

iWatch to Appear Next Week?

Screen-shot-2010-08-28-at-1.03.58-AMEvery day we continue receiving new messages about the  iPod nano with 1.8 inch screen. Some users even think that Apple is planning to release a new wrist watch called iWatch. Although it does not mean that if it releases the device, all children will wear it on their wrists. The most interesting is that some users already wear their iPod nano on their wrists!

We suppose that the new device may sport FM radio or even a camera, though unlikely. It will be priced at $ 100 or less. Can we really wait for it next week?

Apple files a New Patent for iMac Touch

6a0120a5580826970c0133f34442aa970b801Recently we’ve talked about the rumors that Apple is planning to release a new iMac with multitouch display, which will run on iOS 4 over OS X to use sensory capabilities. It seems that we’ll finally see the touchscreen computer from Apple. A new interesting patent has just been spoken about, which shows the iMac with multitouch display called "Apple iMac Touch".

Now Apple says nothing about this device, yet it is only a patent, so we do not know exactly how much time it will need to start producing it.

Japanese Diners Will Soon Use Their iPads As Menus

In America, you’d go in, sit at the counter, order your food from a waitress and get it delivered to you a few minutes later. In Japan, though, it is handled with what can seem to be an absurd level of detachment from your server: orders are placed through a touchscreen or ticket machine, where you pay for your food. That ticket is placed, without a word, upon the tray of someone working behind the counter, who later — and just as silently — brings you your food.

It was really interested, then, to see this iPad self-ordering system pop up on Japan Probe. Designed by Sharp Systems Products, it allows Japanese diners to order from a menu on their iPad, completely obviating the need for the aforementioned touchscreen ordering systems or ticketing machines. It’s a more feature rich implementation too: for example, you can pinch to make a picture of your food bigger, or drill down for ingredients.

Man Uses iPhone to Watch Live Video of His Home Being Burglarized

1

While on vacation, Vincent Hunter received an alert from his iCam iPhone app: Something had set off the motion detectors in his home. He used the app to access his security cameras, called 911, and helplessly watched a burglary unfold.

While Hunter's home security company had also contacted the authorities around the same time as he did, the man was still left watching two burglars leave his home before police officers arrived. There are no details about what was taken from the home and the burglars have not been caught.

The five dollar iCam iPhone app used by Hunter is somewhat similar to software you could install to monitor your security system while away from home, but there's something additionally frustrating seeming about pulling your iPhone out of your pocket to a devastating alert and watching the crime right there on the little screen.

Apple Discloses Methods for Transitioning Between Mouse-Based and Touch Interfaces

fig3

Apple could be planning to introduce touchscreens to the iMac by way of a hybrid interface, a recently discovered patent application suggests. The company notes that despite the usefulness of a touch slide off-screen interface, a mouse- and keyboard-based one is still better in some circumstances. To switch between the two, Apple proposes a design in which a computer's display would be upright for the mouse interface, but slanted down and back for touch.

To make the transition possible an iMac would need a flexible display stand, and a sensor to determine when to change. For the latter Apple proposes several options, such as an accelerometer, a rotation sensor in the stand, and/or a special touch sensor at the place people would want to grip the display. Past a certain input limit, a computer would automatically switch between interfaces.

Notably, elements of Mac OS X such as the Menu Bar, the Dock and the mouse cursor could be made to slide off-screen during the handover. Apple has not specified what the touch interface would be, but it could be iOS.

Justin Long Has a Jailbroken iPhone

JustinLongJailbrokeniPhoneDuring Jimmy Kimmel’s live show Justin Long picked up his iPhone to share some interesting SMS he had. Meanwhile he also showed Cydia on his iPhone’s main screen. For those of you who do not know anything about this man, Justin Long is the very guy who starred in the most popular and successful commercials called "Get a Mac" by Apple, which appeared between 2006-2009 years.

Now that he no longer works with Apple, he is not afraid to break the rules of his former employer. By the way, today jailbreaking is fully legal in the USA, is not it?
