Apple site seach leaks 'iPhone 5' name, new iPod Touches, new iPod Nanos
The name of the new product appears to be “iPhone 5″. Apple's website search engine has unintentionally confirmed this and new iPod touches, as well as new iPod nanos.
When searching for the 'iPhone-5' and 'New-iPod', Apple's search engine brings up results which aren't live yet but clearly show the new product names in the url.
New iPod Touch: codename N78AP, 1136x640 display
Will Strafach, also known as Chronic, has revealed rumors that the new iPod touch has a codename N78AP and will probably feature a 1136x640 display.
it's not even worth leaking to press friend's this close to launch, so: the new iPod5,1 is code name N78AP, and sports a 1136x640 display.
oh wait, another thing worth mentioning: the new iPod touch / N78AP runs on an S5L8942X, NOT an S5L8950X.
Apple in talks to build internet radio service
People familiar with Apple's plans said Apple is looking to create a streaming radio service to rival current offerings like Pandora, according to Wall Street Journal sources. The purported internet-based service will focus on virtual stations to play music on a web browser or dedicated apps. One source said Apple considered competing in the internet radio market in the past as a way to help users discover new music, but ultimately scrapped the plans due to high licensing costs.
Apple Splitting iPod Touch Lineup Between Current and New Designs, Increasing Color Options for iPod Shuffle and New Nano
Apple will reportedly make at least minor changes to their three current iPod lines. 9to5Mac shares some details on Apple's apparent plans for updated iPods reportedly set to be introduced alongside the iPhone 5 at next Wednesday's media event.
- iPod shuffle: The biggest change perhaps being the availability of eight different colors compared to the five color options on the current model. The current $49 pricing is likely to remain in effect, but it is unclear if the current 2 GB capacity will carry over to the new models.
Updated iPods Arriving Alongside Next-Generation iPhone
9to5Mac reports that the updated iPod line is also likely to be introduced at the next-week media event Apple holds to unveil the next-generation iPhone. As usual, the details on the updated devices are scarce, but it seems that Apple will release two or even three updated product lines. Two of the lines appear to correspond to the current iPod shuffle and iPod nano. As for the third product, the report speculates that it could arrive as a new line, allowing Apple to continue offering the current iPod nano design that has gained a following for its small size combined with touchscreen capabilities.

Appleinsider has found a very interesting Apple’s patent that was originally filed in January 2011 and reveals the company’s interest in using the iPod nano's clip as a charging and docking mechanism. Apple wants to eliminate the need for a dedicated docking port on the bottom edge of the device.
By incorporating electrical contacts into the clip and using a dock adapter to provide compatibility with Apple's current docking stations, the clamping action of the iPod nano's clip could hold the device in position for charging purposes.
