Apple Launches First Gold iPhone 5s TV Ad

Apple has released its first TV ad for the new flagship iPhone 5s. This is pretty much the same video that was first shown at the launch of the high-end smartphone is September. It is a bit changed and shortened though.

Similar to the flow of the "plastic perfected" TV ad Apple launched last month for iPhone 5c, the new 5s spot depicts a phone materializing out of a liquid material.

The clip is 30 seconds long and is accompanied with a song called "Ohh La La” by Goldfrapp - an English glam rock band.

You may take a look at the new gold iPhone 5s ad below. What do you think about it? Leave your comments below the article.

iPhone 5s Touch iD Sensor Fits Perfectly in the iPad 5 Front Panel

According to the unboxtherapy video posted to YouTube on October 2nd, the next generation iPad may be equipped with a fingerprint sensor. What is interesting, the existing Touch ID sensor used these days in the iPhone 5s fits the leaked iPad 5 front panel perfectly.

The author of the video took apart his gold iPhone 5s and transplanted the fingerprint sensor into the iPad 5 front panel. As we can see in the clip, it fits perfectly - unlike the old home button which is too big.

The company from Cupertino is said to release its iPad 5 this month. However, it is still unclear, whether this new device will feature the Touch ID fingerprint sensor or not.

Mailbox App Allows HTML Emails to Execute Malicious Javascript Code

Michele Spagnuolo, a well-known security expert and blogger, has recently reported about a Mailbox vulnerability that allows any Javascript contained in the body of the email to be executed in the app.

Here’s what he writes (via iClarified):

This is bad for security and privacy, because it allows advanced spam techniques, tracking of user actions, hijacking the user by just opening an email, and, using an exploitation framework, potentially much worse things. The app also loads external images without offering an option to disable this behavior.

Mailbox developers have reacted very fast - they promise this security breach will be patched within few hours.

And here’s what you can actually do using the malicious Javascript code:

Apple Releases New 'Greetings' Ads for the iPhone 5c

The company from Cupertino has released new 'Greetings' ads to promote its plastic iPhone 5c. On the Apple’s official YouTube channel one can watch either the two separate 30-second clips - Greetings and Greetings Too - or the so-called extended cut, which is one-minute long.

As to the plot of the short video, it is rather simple and reminds Apple’s previous ads. People of various nationalities and speaking different languages use the colorful gadget to communicate and express emotions. The ad looks simple, but still it gently prompts you to buy the new gadget. And this, I believe, is what the advertisement should do - prompt, not persuade.

You can watch the Greetings (extended cut) below. Enjoy!

iFixIt Tears Apart the New Plastic iPhone 5c

iFixIt experts have teared apart the new Apple’s plastic iPhone to show us what’s inside of the long-expected gadget. This happened on Friday - the day, when the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were officially launched in the United States and several other countries.

The iPhone 5c can boast of a 1510mAh battery, Apple A6 processor and 1GB or RAM. All this makes it very similar to the iPhone 5. Still, it differs from it very much.

Although both new iPhones sport a similar construction and share some internals, don’t get your hopes up too high for parts cross-compatibility, thanks to the differences between the display assemblies and the differently-sized FaceTime/speaker connectors.

Below you may watch the iFixIt roundup of the iPhone 5c teardown.
