Claimed iPhone 5 SIM Card Tray Appears Identical to iPhone 4S

iphone_5_sim_card_tray_1

Parts vendor SW-BOX.com has posted information on a claimed iPhone 5 SIM card tray that it obtained from one of its parts suppliers.

The tray appears essentially identical to the SIM card tray found in the iPhone 4S and 4, and if the part is indeed legitimate it suggests that Apple may retain a similar flat-edged form factor for the forthcoming device. Such a design would be opposed to a tapered or rounded-edge design that would likely require a somewhat curved exterior surface for the tray or at least a thinner tray profile as was seen in earlier iPhone models such as the 3G and 3GS.

Jailbreaj 5.1 news: pod2g found 2 big vulnerabilities

jail51-news

Pod2g has announced the discovery of 2 new vulnerabilities in his quest to jailbreak the iPhone.

News: a productive week-end. Found 2 big vulnerabilities. 1 kernel land and 1 root land.

Too bad I have to be secret again...

Last week pod2g noted that a jailbreak of iOS 5.1 would take at least a month to complete. We'll post more information about how these new vulnerabilities will affect that schedule as soon as we hear more.

If the kernel land vulnerability is exploitable this could provide a jailbreak for the device no matter the firmware.

Apple is Blocking the SAM Unlock, Backup Your Unlock Tickets!

sam

Apple is currently in the process of blocking the SAM unlock, reports MuscleNerd. If you need to unlock a SIM or backup your unlock ticket do it now!

MuscleNerd mentions this in Twitter:

Looks like Apple's currently fixing their activation servers. But the good news is that previous tickets gotten via SAM trick still work.

Those who managed to unlock using SAM should save the unlock tickets. To do it just use iFile or iFunbox and save /var/root/Library/Lockdown, or use latest Redsn0w (Extras -> Even more -> backup).

ipadnew

The NPD Group has found that about 25 percent of buyers in the U.S. have made the iPad their first-ever Apple product.

"iPad sales are growing much faster than any other Apple product has this soon after launch," said Ben Arnold, director of industry analysis at NPD. "In fact, one-in-five Apple owner households has one— nearly equivalent to the number that own an Apple computer. This demonstrates the appeal of both the new form factor and Apple’s app ecosystem."

A majority of the U.S. households that do have Apple products — 67 percent — own an iPod, and 82 percent of iPod owners polled said the media player was their first Apple product.

The non-Apple employees will not be welcomed in the cafeteria that will allow Apple employees to speak freely about their business without fearing that competitors are eavesdropping.

"We like to provide a level of security so that people and employees can feel comfortable talking about their business, their research and whatever project they're engineering without fear of competition soft of overhearing their conversations," said Dan Wisenhunt, Apple's director of real estate facilities. "That is a real issue today in Cupertino because we've got other companies here in our same business."

The cafeteria will be a two-story building that will include a cafe, meeting rooms, lounge areas and courtyard space. The second floor will be intended for cafeteria employees for storage, locker rooms, restrooms and more. The site will also include 70 parking spaces housed in an underground garage.
