Apple is expanding its energy resources in the data center of North Carolina.
The Charlotte Observer reports that Apple is planning to double the size of its energy resources at its data center in Maiden, North Carolina to 10 megawatts.
"Fifty fuel cells adjacent to its $1 billion data center in Maiden are expected to be operating by January, Apple said in papers filed with the N.C. Utilities Commission. It will be fueled by “directed biogas” in which cleaned methane gas from a landfill is injected into a natural gas pipeline. [...]

Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 released: iOS 6.0.1 support added
iH8Sn0w released Sn0wBreeze 2.9.7 that brings support for tethered jailbreak of iOS 6.0.1. New version supports iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G. It does not work with A5/A6 devices, like iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, etc.

Apple removes AppleCare From Sale In Italy
In July we reported that Apple was threatened with a temporary closure of its operation in Italy if the company did not change its warranty policies. Previously Italian antitrust regulator fined Apple $1.2 million for misleading practices of selling one-year AppleCare warranties and not informing customers about a two-year warranty that is mandatory by European Union law. Now it seems that Apple has officially removed its AppleCare Protection Plans from sale in Italian retail stores with only online version of its plans still available for consumers in Italy.
Apple Store app gift cards are now available and have a geographical coverage.
On Saturday, Apple started offering digital gift cards that can be purchased via the Apple app Store, and online store. These cards will be available for sending them to friends and family using Passbook. The company first announced that the electronic gift cards will be available when the Apple Store application was updated this week, however, digital coupons were not available for purchase until Saturday.
Apple requires manufacturers of accessories observe the Lightning corporate ethics.
At the annual ”MFi” conference, which was held in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, Apple notified manufacturers of accessories that they have to comply with the corporate ethics selling officially licensed products. According to TUAW, the certified devices such as "made for iPhone, iPad and iPod, will only be able from companies that adhere to corporate standards." It seems that iPad mini launch this Friday will mark the first time an iOS device includes stereo speakers. It appears that Apple’s transition to the new Lightning connector has left sufficient space for one more speaker on the bottom edge of the tablet, though the company decided not to include additional speaker to the iPad 4. Until now iPad models only included a single speaker grille.
