iCloud Is A Further Evidence Of Releasing Apple Television Late 2012

icloud

The recently unveiled iCloud service, which will help to share content between different devices, is seen by a leading analyst as even better evidence that Apple is readying to release a high-definition TV set in late 2012.

On Thursday Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray repeated his long-time stance that Apple is developing its own full-blown television set, instead of just set-top box like the Apple TV.

Today Nokia introduced its MeegoOS-powered N9 phone. Well, we all know that Nokia has dropped Meego project and don't plan to support it, but the company decided to release this N9 anyway.

It looks good and quite familiar. There is some similarity with previous generation Apple iPod Nano.

So actively developing Facebook and Twiiter suggest that social networking has been the most growing trend in the recent years. Apple has already tried to enter into this market with its iTunes network Ping, but without any great success.

Based on content of a new patent application publised today,  it is possible to suggest that Apple has been making much more ambitious plans using the iPhone location-based functions and interest matching. The result is the possibility of finding you your next date, friend or business partner by your iPhone.

iTunes costs $1.3 billon per year to run

iTunes

An interesting report from Asymco estimates that it costs Apple $1.3 billion per year to run the iTunes store.

Asymco analyzed recently announced numbers like the total number of songs, movies, TV shows, apps, download rate, iTunes accounts and how much Apple has paid out to developers. They put these numbers in a complex formula and estimated that Apple's monthly content margin cost for iTunes at $113 million, which is more than $1.3 billion per year.

That's a lot. It looks like all the iTunes profits go right back into its maintenance and expansion.

How to downgrade from iOS 5 beta back to iOS 4.3.3

It is surprising how good the first beta version of iOS 5 is, but if for any reason you need to go back to iOS 4.3.3, we’ll show you how. There are at least two ways to do that:

Downgrade via XCode (Mac Only + dev license)

This is the easiest way to get back to a previous version of iOS. The bad part is that it can sometimes put you into a never ending DFU loop. You can typically use iRecovery to kick you out of it.

1. Download the iOS 4.3.3 here (it is better to use Firefox).

2. Open XCode and from the top select Window and then Organizer.

iOS 5 jailbreak released: Redsn0w 0.9.8 b1

ios5-redsn0w

MuscleNerd recently Tweeted that iOS 5 beta 1 jailbreak is already available. DevTeam released Redsn0w 0.9.8 b1.

For now the jailbreak is tethered (you have to run redsn0w each time you reboot) and available for Mac OS X only. It will not activate your device, so you need have registered UDID. iPhone 3GS users with 06.15 baseband: redsn0w will get you past the iTunes restore error. This redsn0w will probably work on future versions of iOS 5.

Redsn0w 0.9.8 b1 works with iOS 5 b1 on iPhone 4 (GSM / CDMA), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPad 1.

This is mostely for developers of Cydia apps. Most tweaks and Cydia applications do not work on iOS 5.

You can download Redsn0w 0.9.8 b1 here.

How to upgrade to iOS 5 without developer account

update-ios5

Before you even start thinking about it -

  • you do it at your own risk
  • you will probably loose warranty
  • you cant go back to iOS 4.x once you go to iOS 5
  • Apple will probably fix this soon.

The exploit uses a combination of Voiceover and the pull down notifications to activate the phone. The user that found this exploit says the device continues to work after restarts (so you won’t need to activate it every time you restart). The steps are:

Download WWDC 2011 keynote

WWDC-2011-keynote-crowd-photohraphs-Steve-Jobs

The keynote video is available online, as an iTunes podcast and as a direct download here. It is 1.22 gigabyte MP4-encoded file. The resolution is 640-by-360 and is probably the highest-quality Apple keynote we’ve downloaded from iTunes to date.
