Apple Wins Dispute Over iPhone5.com Domain
This month Apple of iPhone5.com that was used by domain squatter for a forum with lots of ads. The company filed a claim with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), who today is said to have granted its request. The Next Web, the squatter has ceded control of the domain that is now under control of the company called Corporation Service Company that can transfer the ownership to Apple.
Apple To Update iCloud With New Photo Sharing Feature
The Wall Street Journal, Apple plans to announce an upgrade to its iCloud service at Worldwide Developers Conference next months. The refreshed service will allow iCloud users to share photos with each other and comment on them. Now, users can only store photos via a Photo Stream feature that is capable to sync photos with other Apple devices, but not to share them.
Apple accidentally reveals iCloud.com banner notifications
Users who visited the iCloud.com website on Tuesday could find a test of a new banner notification feature that was mistakenly made public, revealing a forthcoming feature for the service. An iOS-style notification was at the top of a browser and looked like:
"Default Title for English," the title read, followed by "English - This is test message description."
To the right of the notification was an 'X,' allowing users to close the message from their browser. The test message could not be selected and it did not link anywhere.
Apple Reports 2012 Second Quarter Results
Apple announced the company results for Q2 2012. Apple has $110 billion in cash reserves, which is up from $81.5 billion in September 2011. Apple was also up in every other segment with $18.4 billion in short-term marketable securities (up from $16.1 billion) and long-term marketable securities at $81.6 billion, which is up from $55.6 billion in the previous six-month period ending September 2011.
Here are some interesting numbers that Apple reported for the quarter:
iTunes and App Store:
- $1.9 billion in iTunes revenue (a 35 percent YOY increase)
- 600,000 apps (200,000 iPad specific apps)
iOS devices:
- 365 million iOS device sales
- $22.7 billion in revenue from iPhone and accessories
- 6.6 billion in revenue from iPad and accessories.
- 7.7 million iPod sales
- 94 percent of Fortune 500 and 75 percent of global 500 testing or deploying iPad
iCloud:
- 125 million iCloud users—up 25 million from February
Retail Stores:
- $4.4 billion in retail store revenue, up 8 percent
- 363 Apple Stores
- 826,000 Macs sold in store—half to new customers
- $12.2 million average revenue per-store (up from $9.9 million)
- 85 million visitors to retail—18,000 per store, per week

Apple Working On Local Backup System For iOS Devices In Genius Bar
Sources indicate that Apple is planning to add new hardware solution to its Apple Store Genius Bar that would allow its employees to quickly back up data on the devices requiring replacement and pull back that data on the replacement devices. Users are always advised to back up data before bringing them for replacement to a Genius Bar, and those who fail to do it can lose valuable data.

iTunes, iCloud error currently obstructing some content downloads
Yesterday Apple confirmed an ongoing error with iTunes in the Cloud. Some customers claimed that they are unable to download and stream content.
TheNextWeb's Matthew Panzarino contacted Apple Support to discuss a "this item cannot be downloaded on this network" error message that he and other users had been receiving on the Apple TV. The message directs users to do either "connect to a Wi-Fi network or download it" on their computers.
Apple Seeded Second Developer Preview Of OS X With Several New Features
Apple seeded its second preview version of the upcoming OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion to developers. Apple Plans To Release 8 GB iPad 2 Alongside 16 GB And 32 GB iPad 3
DigiTimes that Apple is going to release a new 8 GB iPad 2 alongside the iPad 3 next week, presumably seeking to cut costs to make the model as affordable as possible while differentiating the model from the iPad 3. Apple used similar strategy for the last generations of iPhones, where it has discontinues 16 GB and 32 GB iPhones being updated and introduced an 8 GB iPhone as a low-end option for users.
Apple rumored to be developing new audio format designed for iCloud streaming
Apple is reportedly working on a new audio file format for iCloud service. The new audio format will offer improved streaming and "high-definition" quality of music allowing users to access music they obtained from sources outside of iTunes over the iCloud service.
"A source with inside knowledge of the process says Apple has asked a London studio to prepare audio files for a new streaming format that will adapt to bandwidth or hardware capabilities," the report said. It quoted an unnamed person who said users' libraries would "improve in an instant," and nothing would need to be done to upgrade files from the current AAC format to high definition.

Apple Readying Miniaturized Dock Connector for Future iPhones
Apple blog iMore has "heard" from unnamed sources that Apple is looking to replace the venerable 30-pin iPhone, iPad and iPod dock connector with a smaller, space-saving successor that will possibly make a debut in the company's next generation iPhone.
An updated “micro dock” could make room for bigger batteries, 4G radios, and other components far more important to the iPhone and iPad in a PC free world. As iMore points out, the current dock connector isn't huge, but as devices continue to get smaller and thinner, every little bit counts.
