Screenshots of the iPad 2 Camera App

Some users found the iPad 2's Camera app in the iOS 4.3 beta and made some screenshots which you may see above and below. 9to5Mac reports: "These screenshots are 1024 x 768 which indicate the same screen resolution as the current iPad. That might upset those hoping for more a retina-ish display in iPad 2. This may only be because the current simulator only simulates 1024 x 768 so those hoping for more pixels shouldn’t lose hope."

Commercial negotiations between Apple and Verizon took one day

This week Bloomberg took an interesting interview with Verizon Communications President Lowell McAdam. He talked about the deal between his company and Apple that needed few years to reach.

It became known that both companies agreed to trade "inside information" about their upcoming services and products. An extensive testing of iPhone 4 became possible due to CDMA towers, which were installed at Apple's campus in Cupertino. That allowed to avoid network issues, while similar problems have became a public relations concern for AT&T.

Apps from Mac App Store were cracked hours after its launch

In a few hours after Apple opened its Mac App Store ‘pirates’ found the way to install and run paid apps for free.

According to John Gruber’s blog Daring Fireball, the vulnerability appears to be in those apps that do not follow app validation advice given by Apple.

2011 Breaks iOS Alarm Functionality

Yesterday’s morning numerous iPhone users around the world discovered that the built-in iOS alarm functionality didn’t support the transition to the new year and has not functioned properly. It’s a recurrent issue with iOS 4.0 and above, as you might remember a similar issue occurred during the daylight saving time change. This time however, only non-recurring alarms are affected, instead of the recurring ones. This is rather important bug, as non-recurring alarms are a very popular feature and an incredible amount of users around the world rely on it to wake up every morning in time.

The iPad-only Publication 'Daily' Is Rumored To Debut On Jan.17

Yesterday Peter Kafka from MediaMemo had reported that according to multiple sources the News Corp's newspaper Daily will be launched on Jan. 17. He added that previously the launch date was shifted several times, but the reported date is a "much safer bet".

Rumor has it the Daily will cost only $0.99 per week and will be updated every day. The publication will be only available for Apple's iPad and include multimedia features like "some kind of 3-D effect that lots of people are very excited about".

Apple Will Open Its Mac App Store On Jan. 6 In 90 Countries

Yesterday Apple revealed that its Mac App Store will be opened on Jan. 6, 2011.

New App Store will offer both paid and free applications for Mac OS X Snow Leopard in such categories as Utilities, Productivity, Lifestyle, and Graphics & Design. Steve Jobs also told it will be available in ninety countries at launch.

"The App Store revolutionized mobile apps. We hope to do the same for PC apps with the Mac App Store by making finding and buying PC apps easy and fun. We can't wait to get started on January 6".

Canadа: iBookstore Has Been Approved, iPhone Can Be Unlocked

According to MacNN, yesterday The Ministry of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages announced that it had granted formal approval of the iBookstore. Its Minister James Moore positively commented this decision:

"Our Government is committed to strengthening Canada's economy through all its sectors, especially arts and culture. Apple has demonstrated how iBookstore Canada represents new opportunities for Canadian authors and publishers, and I have determined that this investment will be of net benefit to Canada."

Japanese Publishers Accuse Apple in Illegal Distribution of Their Content

According to the Wall Street Journal, yesterday the Japan Book Publishers Association, the Electronic Book Publishers Association of Japan, the Japan Magazine Publishers Association and Digital Comic Association issued a joint press release, where Apple's content is called as infringing and "illegal". Particularly, the works well-known Japanese authors Keigo Higashimo and Haruki Murakami were mentioned as illegally scanned and distributed via the App Store.

“The associations we represent believe that Apple bears grave responsibility for this problem".

iPad 2 Is Rumored To Have Rear Camera and SD Card Slot

Reuters' sources claimed today that the iPad 2 will have dual cameras, and its production will presumably be started in the first quarter of 2011.

This is another report that confirms the rumors about FaceTime support in the next-gen iPad. It also named battery maker Simplo Technology, chip designer Wintek Corp and "an unlisted maker of covers for electronic products" AVY Precision as suppliers for the second Apple's tablet.

Apple works on improved contextual voice commands in its devices

This week the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office made public another Apple's patent application that describes the new voice control method. It is entitled "Contextual Voice Commands" and its aim is to make voice control more efficient and reliable.

Apple's proposed system determines the voice command possibilities for every application so that you could give more precise directions by voice to the device.
