1,000 Apple Engineers Working on AR in Israel



According to the latest report from Business Insider, Apple has a team of about 1,000 engineers working on augmented reality and related technologies. The team is reportedly located in Israel. First systems created by these people may be added to the iPhone 8, sources claim. The report is based on research conducted by UBS.

Third-party iPhone Screen Repairs Don’t Void Warranty Now



Apple has recently changed its iPhone warranty policy. From now on, third-party screen repairs do not void the warranty. As noted in the internal memo shared with retail employees, if the phone passes the fraud or tampering inspection, the company should proceed with the repair as in a normal case. If the third-party screen repair didn’t cause any damage to the phone, Apple will repair the phone under warranty, free of cost.

iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and 6s Captured 31.3% Market Share in the USA in November



According to the latest report shared by Kantar Worldpanel, Apple’s iPhone captured 31.3% of the US smartphone market in the quarter ending before holidays. Android share is falling as the vendors are selling less smartphone with this operating system on board. In 2015, Android’s share was 60.4% and now it’s 55.3%. iOS is slowly but steadily luring new customers and Android is losing them.

Foxconn Manager Has Stolen 5,700 iPhones and Sold Them for $1.5M



A Foxconn manager allegedly working in the testing unit of the factory has been accused of stealing 5,700 iPhone units and selling them for about $1.56 million. He instructed his employees working along with him at the factory in Shenzhen to steal several thousands on iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s units. The devices were illegally sold during 2013-2014. The manager’s name is reportedly Tsai.

Apple Launches Apple Pay in New Zealand



Following the launch of Apple Pay in Russia earlier this month, Apple has launched the payments system in New Zealand. Currently, Apple Pay is available only for the customers of one bank called ANZ Bank. They can add their credit and debit Visa cards and start using the system for sending payments and making purchases at McDonald's, Glassons, Hallenstein Brothers, and K-Mart.

Apple Launches Apple Pay in Russia



Apple Pay has started working in Russia marking the tenth country of the service availability. Since its launch in the USA in 2014, Apple’s contactless payment service has debuted to the United Kingdom, China, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Hong Kong, France, Singapore, and Russia.

Currently, Apple Pay works only with Mastercard cards issued by Sberbank. With time, however, the service will start working with other major banks and retailers including ATAK, Auchan, Magnit, Azbuka Vkusa, Media Markt, M.Video, and several others. Moreover, soon Apple Pay will start working at Eldorado and Burger King.

Apple is steadily expanding Apple Pay to major markets. Soon the service will debut in New Zealand.
