TSMC Starts Chip Production for the iPhone 8 – Digitimes





According to the latest report from Digitimes, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has started the production of 10-nanometer chips for the upcoming iPhone 8. Initially, there were some issues with the production these components, but they were successfully resolved, the reporters claim citing anonymous sources.

New photo showing what appears to be the iPhone SE back panel has recently appeared on the Internet. Posted by Slashleaks, the image depicts parts made of Ion-X glass. The components are designed for the device codenamed “N79”, which is most likely the small iPhone SE. The date of the document leaked alongside the iPhone parts is April 20, 2017.

iPhone 7 Was the Best Selling smartphone in Q1 2017



According to the latest report from Strategy Analytics, the iPhone 7 was the best selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2017 and the iPhone 7 Plus was the second one.

Apple shipped 21.5 million units of the 4.7-inch model and 17.4 million units of the 5.5-inch device. This allowed Apple to take 11% of market. The third best selling smartphone was OPPO R9s, which is being heavily promoted in Asia and India. The fourth and the fifth places in the Strategy Analytics are occupied by Samsung’s Galaxy J3 and galaxy J5.

iPhone 8 Production to Be Delayed – Analyst



According to the latest report from usually reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has faced serious troubles with the production and shipments of components for the upcoming iPhone 8. In fact, the analyst claims there is a “rising probability of worst-case scenario for iPhone shipments”. What this means is that the iPhone 8 may be delayed.

iPhone 8 to Have Touch ID on Back Panel After All – Analysts



According to a rather controversial report from a Hong-Kong research firm CLSA, the Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the rumored OLED iPhone 8 will be located on the back panel. The report is based on the information from Apple suppliers, but it contradicts persistent rumors about Apple’s plans to integrate Touch ID beneath the screen glass cover.

FBI Paid $900,000 to Unlock San Bernardino Shooter’s iPhone



As it turns out, the Federal Bureau of Investigation paid over $900,000 to obtain tools required to unlock the San Bernardino shooter’s iPhone. The information comes from a senator Dianne Feinstein, so we can believe it for sure. The details were shared during an oversight hearing where the senator was questioning FBI director James Comey,  The Associated Press reports.

iPhone 8 to Get Better Earpiece – Analysts



According to the latest report from JPMorgan, the iPhone 8 will feature an improved earpiece that will make the sound quality better and enhance the waterproofing of the device. 2016 MacBook Pro Helped Apple Set New Mac Sales Record



Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed that strong demand for the 2016 MacBook Pro units has helped the company to set a new Mac sales record. During the last fiscal quarter, Apple sold 4.2 million Mac units, which is 4% more than in the year-ago quarter. The revenue generated by Mac sales accounted for $5.8 billion. That’s 14% more than in the second fiscal quarter of 2016.

New Mac Malware Has Been Discovered



According to the latest report from Malwarebytes, a well-known Windows backdoor malware called "Snake" has been ported to the Mac. The malware pretends to be an Adobe Flash Player installer. In fact, the program installs Adobe Flash Player, but apart from that, it installs additional components that steal passwords, unencrypted files, and login information.

Even though the iPad sales are declining, Apple is still the top tablet vendor, reports TrendForce. 8.3 million iPads sold in the first calendar quarter of 2017 allowed the Cupertino-based tech to remain the leader of the top-five tablet vendors list. Apple Became Top Wearables Vendor – Analyst



According to the latest report shared by Strategy Analytics, Apple has overtaken Fitbit and become the largest wearables vendor in the world. During the last calendar quarter, the company shipped 3.5 million Apple Watch units and took 15.9% of global market. In the first quarter of 2016, Apple’s market share was 12.1% and the shipments accounted for 2.2 million units.
