Antitrust Investigators Subpoenaed Apple For Information On Search Deal With Google
Bloomberg, Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust investigators subpoenaed Apple requesting details on the company’s agreement with Google, according to which Google has become the default search engines on iOS devices. Reportedly, last year Google Apple $1 billion in the iOS search agreement, and the subpoena is part of an antitrust investigation that is currently conducted over Google’s business practices.
Apple Began To Ship Components For Its TV Set 'In Small Quantities'
Last month analyst from Piper Jaffray Gene Munster said that Apple was investigating offerings of components for its rumored television set, contacting suppliers to find out what production capabilities they can provide.
Business Insider, a new report from analyst from Jeffries & Co. PeterMisek claims that "small quantities" of different components is shipped to Apple’s suppliers of television display panels. Misek expects that Apple will start commercial production of its TV set in May or June, with the release coming in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Jony Ive Discusses Apple's Creative Design Processes
Apple design chief Jony Ive in an interview to the London Evening Standard revealed how the design process works at Apple. Ive told that prototyping is deeply integrated into the design process at Apple, and discussed Apple’s approach to creating entirely new categories of products rather than simply improving on existing ones.
Q: What makes design different at Apple?
A: We struggle with the right words to describe the design process at Apple, but it is very much about designing and prototyping and making. When you separate those, I think the final result suffers. If something is going to be better, it is new, and if it’s new you are confronting problems and challenges you don’t have references for. To solve and address those requires a remarkable focus. There’s a sense of being inquisitive and optimistic, and you don’t see those in combination very often.

Apple Is Sued Over Misleading Siri Advertising
the Wall Street Journal, Apple was sued by an iPhone 4S customer who alleges that the company promoted its personal assistant service Siri using "misleading and deceptive" advertisements. The plaintiff Frank Fazio claims that depictions of Siri in Apple’s ads suggest the service is easy to use, which he says is not present in real-world use.

Apple rumored to use 'slim bezel display' for 7.85-inch iPad
Citing sources from Apple's upstream supply chain, DigiTimes reports that Apple will launch a 7.85-inch iPad to compete with smaller tablet models like the Amazon Kindle Fire or Samsung Galaxy Tab. Such tablet will adopt a "slim bezel display," according to a new report.
"Although the 7.85-inch iPads may not adopt Retina displays as in the recently released new iPads, the 7.85-inch model is likely to use IPS/FFS panels from LG Display and probably AU Optronics (AUO)," the report said.
Khan Academy Releases iPad App With Access To Large Collection Of Educational Videos

Apple adds army of Korean-speakers to legal team in Samsung patent war
Apple has reportedly hired 73 contract attorneys and 20 reviewers of Korean-American descent to study the growing mountain of Korean-language documents provided by the Galaxy Tab maker.
WilmerHale, the firm tasked with defending Apple against Samsung patent attacks, filed the declarations of 72 Korean-American contract lawyers and 20 document reviewers that will allow them to take part in the litigation. In addition to cross-contracting six of the lawyers and two reviewers, Morrison & Forrester, which deals with Apple's patent assertions against the South Korean company, hired a separate Korean-American attorney.
Steve Jobs approached CBS to pitch subscription TV service
CBS chief executive Les Moonves has revealed that the late Apple cofounder Steve Jobs connected with him directly to discuss a subscription TV service. But Moonves rejected the offer, being confident that it would disrupt the company's existing revenue streams.
Moonves had confirmed last November during an earnings call that Apple had held talks with CBS over a "success-based or non-guaranteed" streaming TV service. During the UCLA Entertainment Symposium on Saturday, he mentioned the additional detail that it was Jobs himself who had given the pitch, Hollywood Reporter reports.
New iPhoto and iMovie apps can be manually copied to the original iPad
Apple doesn't support its new iPhoto app, as well as iMovie, on the original iPad. The reason is obvious - the original iPad doesn’t have a camera. But the apps can be installed manually using Apple's iPhone Configuration Utility. iPhoto and iMovie seem to work well enough on the original iPad, although it lacks speed of the iPad 2 and memory of the newest iPad.
To install iMovie and iPhoto to the original iPad you need:
1. to install Apple's free iPhone Configuration Utility, available at http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise/
2. to buy the apps in iTunes, they'll be within your Music folder under iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications.
Apple provides additional details for Cupertino campus project
The city of Cupertino has recently presented the updated plans and renderings for Apple's Cupertino campus project that was first unveiled by late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. The main building, which Jobs described as "a little like a spaceship landed," will comprise 2.8 million square feet over its four stories. The campus will also accommodate a café and restaurant, fitness center and corporate auditorium with seating for up to 1,000 people, as well as 300,000 square feet of research facilities. The majority of power for the facilities will be supplied by an "on-site low carbon Central Plant" and will also be supplemented by solar power.
Apple Investing $300 Million in Austin, Texas to Add 3,600 More Workers
Texas Governor Rick Perry revealed on Friday that Apple plans to invest $304 million on a new campus in Austin that will create 3,600 new jobs and double the size of its workforce in Texas. Moreover, the state will award Apple $21 million over 10 years through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF). In return, Apple will expand its customer support, sales and accounting functions in the region.
"Apple is known for its bold innovation and game-changing designs, and the expansion of their Austin facility adds to the growing list of visionary high-tech companies that have found that Texas' economic climate is a perfect fit for their future, thanks to our low taxes, reasonable and predictable regulations, fair legal system and skilled workforce" Perry said. "Investments like this further Texas' potential to become the nation's next high-tech hub."
The TEF’s partnership with Apple will be one of the largest job creation initiatives in TEF history. To date, the fund has invested more than $443.4 million to help generate more than 62,000 new jobs and $15.4 billion in capital investment.
Apple Will Discontinue iWork.com as of July 31 Due To Transition to iCloud
Apple sent out notifications to users who registered at its saying that the service will be discontinued as of July 31. The move comes as the company focuses on iCloud that offers users the possibility to sync documents across their various iOS devices.
