DigiTimes, Taiwanese trade publication, cites industry sources that said that the largest contract maker of gadgets in the world Foxconn will manufacture a rumored Amazon’s tablet powered by Android. They claim that the tablet will boast a 10.1-inch display and its shipments will begin in 2012. Quanta Computer, another Asian contract manufacturer, has already started shipments of a smaller 7-inch gadget to Amazon, the report writes.

According to Bloomberg report, based on the information from the lawyer for plaintiff Personal Audio, a jury found that Apple had indeed violated two patents relating to downloadable playlists for iPods. Coby Electronics, Sirius XM Radio and Archos were also included in the suit, but they resolve the dispute out of the court last year.

As you might know hacker Comex has found a new PDF vulnerability and released JailBreakMe tool that uses it. These were great news. The bad ones is that your iPhone and iPad and iPod Touch is at risk. Bad guys can use the same vulnerability to take control of your device and do whatever they want with it.

Apple will fix it in iOS 4.3.4 firmware some day. Fortunately Comex has already released a patch for his JailbreakMe 3.0 exploit to protect already jailbroken devices from any malicious use of the exploit.

This year Amazon released its Cloud Player and Cloud Drive services that allow users to store music and other media data on Amazon’s servers and access them from different devices connected to the Internet. After Apple announced iCloud last month, some showed an interest in Amazon tweaking its products to keep with iCloud.

In April a lawsuit against Samsung was originally filled by Apple in which the company accused Samsung of copying the iPhone and iPad in its Galaxy. Shortly afterwards Samsung filled a counter suit against Apple asking to see the iPad 3 and iPhone 5. But judge denied this request earlier this year. This week Samsung abandoned their counter-patent suits.

Today Adobe has presented a new "switcher" discount program that is intended to take advantage of harsh criticism directed  to Apple’s new Final Cut Pro X. This promotional program provides 50% discount on either Premiere Pro CS5.5 or Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium to people who currently use Avid’s Media Composer or Apple’s Final Cut Pro. Some current users of Adobe products are also allowed to get this discount.

According to Bloomberg’s report, HP is interested in licensing its mobile operating system webOS to other companies, which may open the door for yet another competitor in the tablet and smartphone market.

"We are talking to a number of companies," Apotheker, president of the company, stated in Beijing, refusing to give more details."I can share with you that a number of companies have expressed interest. We are continuing our conversations."

Pope Benedict XVI made his first tweet today. He sent it using Apple iPad.

According to Bloomberg's report, the court will probably deny the Apple’s request to ban Amazon from using App Store term. This term is used by Amazon as the header name of its online store that markets and sells applications working on Google’s Android platform. Apple filed a suit in March this year over potential confusion about App Store term.

Bloomberg says Apple is planning to release a new faster iPhone this September.

The device will include the A5 processor, the more powerful chip that Apple added to the iPad 2 earlier this year, along with an 8-megapixel camera, up from the 5-megapixel model in the iPhone 4, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t public. Apple is also testing a new version of the iPad that has a higher resolution screen, similar to the one now used in the iPhone 4, one of the people said.

Earlier today, another rumor source BGR reported that the new iPhone would be released even earlier, in late August. They have also mentioned that new iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 would feature a radical new design.

Apple has reduced the iPhone 4 order in expectation of fifth-gen device, confirming the rumors that suggest a new iPhone will release prior to the end of this year.

In spite of a usual peak season for such companies as Apple, in the third quarter Taiwan’s suppliers of printed circuit board have reduced quotes on average by 10% for their order placed by the Apple company, according to industry sources’ leaks to DigiTimes.

CNET writes on a comment made by analyst Doug Freedman at Gleacher & Company, who says that it is estimated that 48% of all Apple’s laptops will be of MacBook Air family:

“How big is this opportunity? In the 4-year lifespan of [Apple's] iconic MacBook Air, units sold as a percentage of its total notebook supply was 8 percent in 2008, 9 percent in 2009, and 17 percent in 2010 to an estimated 48 percent in 2011,” he stated.

Advanced Intel Sandy Bridge processors designed for ultraportable laptops (chips can “turbo” or overlock to much higher speeds) were priced today:

Core i7-2637M: 1.7 GHz (turbos to 2.8GHz), 2 cores, 17 watts, 4MB cache, priced at $289

Core i7-2677M: 1.8 GHz (turbos to 2.9GHz), 2 cores 17 watts, 4MB cache, priced at $317

Core i5-2557M: 1.7 GHz (turbos to 2.7GHz), 2 cores 17 watts, 3MB cache, priced at $250

Possibly more important that these chips are based on Intel’s newish fab process that will make power efficiency much higher. But the drawback is that they will utilize Intel’s slower chipset that doesn’t make use of Nvidia’s 3xx series graphics.

New MacBook Airs are expected within a month.
