Apple has seeded a new 8th version of Mac OS X 10.6.7, termed Build 10J869, to developers for testing. According to those familiar with the new build, Apple doesn’t list known issues keeps asking developers to focus their testing on Safari, Mac App Store, AirPort, Bonjour, SMB, and Graphics Drivers. Very little change in file size leads us to think the final release of the OS update is nearing completion.

Apple opened its virtual doors around 1AM this morning and now the iPad 2 is available for order on the US Apple Online Store. There is a choice out of 18 models - WiFi, GSM or CDMA; Black or White; 16, 32 or 64GB. All 18 models are available for order and they all ship in 3-5 business days. UPDATE: most of the models are now ships within 2-3 weeks.

Apple’s iPad 2 Smart Cover is available as well, shipping in 1-2 business days. Smart Cover is available either leather ($69) or Polyurethane ($39) option with 5 colors per material. As we were told during iPad 2 presentation - Apple is also selling an HDMI cable ($39) for the iPad 2.

Those who do not want to order their iPad 2 online can purchase one at an Apple retail, AT&T, Target, Verizon, Best Buy, Walmart, or Sam’s Club store starting March 11th at 5 PM local time.

Hacker with nickname I0n1c has demonstrated an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3 using his iPad.

I0n1c posted the video below on YouTube. Current untethered jailbreak is alpha, it is not finished. So no due dates yet. We do not know when untether will be available for public. We'll keep you updated.

As far as we know, the Apple’s browser Safari was always the subject of intense criticism for its various security weaknesses.  A couple of days ago Safari got pwned again at the hacking challenge pwn2own. It took the French team consists of specialists of security firm Vupen just a few seconds to exploit an unpatched Safari vulnerability. “We pwned Apple Safari on Mac OS X (x64) at pwn2own in 5 seconds,” they tweeted. Just a few minutes before the contest, Apple released Safari 5.0.4 alongside iOS 4.3. Vupen said that the update 62 vulnerabilities, breaking “some exploits but not all.”  The winners were awarded $15,000 and a MacBook Air. In addition to Safari, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 was also hacked pretty quickly.

MuscleNerd recently tweeted some news regarding iPhone 4 unlock. Unfortunately:

This means that users have to wait more. No due date was given. If you need unlock just remember to save your SHSH keys using Cydia or TinyUmbrella and do NOT update to iOS 4.3.

This news are for users with locked iPhone 4 with baseband 02.10 or 03.10, iPhone 3G/3GS with baseband 05.14 or 05.15. For 05.14 and 05.15 there is a possibility to update to 06.15 and unlock, but there are special risks.

Alongside release of the iOS 4.3, Apple announced update of the company’s Internet browser Safari 5.0.4 that contains lots of improvements:

Improved stability for webpages with multiple instances of plug-in content;

Improved compatibility with webpages with image reflections and transition effects;

A fix for an issue that could cause some webpages to print with incorrect layouts;

A fix for an issue that could cause content to display incorrectly on webpages with plug-ins;

A fix for an issue that could cause a Screen Saver to appear while video is playing in Safari;

Improved compatibility with VoiceOver on webpages with text input areas and lists with selectable items;

Improved stability when using VoiceOver.

Apple just released new iOS 4.3 firmware. Jailbreakers and unlockers should wait for new tools. Everybody else will benefit. iOS 4.3 has Safari speed improvements, AirPlay features, hotspot, Home sharing, a new option for customizing the iPad's side switch to serve as a mute toggle or screen orientation lock and much more:

UPDate: Attention! We've received info, that Apple stopped signing iOS 4.2 for devices for which iOS 4.3 is available. This means you will not be able to restore to 4.2.1 without saved SHSH keys.

UPDATE: Please, consider reading our Jailbreak & Unlock FAQ, especially if you have questions or troubles.

Using this tutorial you will be able to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 running on iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and iPad. Pwnagetool will also preserve baseband version if you need carrier unlock. If you have updated the baseband to version 06.15, you can use this tutorial. This tutorial uses  PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac OS X.

We are not developers of jailbreak utilities, so we cannot assure that everything will work just fine. However we tried this tutorial on several devices and succeeded.

Apple released the golden master version of iOS 4.3 to developers. The public release of the operating system is set to come out on the 11th March together with the release of the iPad 2. The update is available in versions for the iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, the iPad 2 will ship with iOS 4.3 installed. Typically a gold master issued to developers is identical to the version that eventually becomes the final release.

Alongside the new iPad 2 Apple yesterday released iTunes 10.2 that officially introduces support for iOS 4.3, even despite the fact that iOS 4.3 doesn't launch publicly until March 11th. The update also brings an improved home sharing feature to share libraries with iOS devices running iOS 4.3.

Apple found plenty of things to tweak and update on it's iPad. We didn't get new ports, there is no Thunderbolt, the screen and resolution is the same, however the iPad 2 is thinner and lighter somehow even more powerful, it's faster with 1GHz dual-core Apple A5. There are lots of rumors about forthcoming second-gen iPad hardware. The iPad 2 is expected to be slimmer and lighter, with a larger speaker and an improved display designed to deliver a better experience in bright sunlight.  It will likely run on a 1.2GHz, dual-core, ARM Cortex-A9 chip and Imagination’s SGX543 GPU architecture. The new iPad probably will support both GSM and CDMA thank to the Qualcomm chip. It will have double the RAM–512MB, same as the iPhone 4, as well as front camera for FaceTime and Photo Booth and back-facing one for POV FaceTime and shooting photos and video.

Alongside the new iPad Apple may also announce iOS 5 preview at the event. iOS 5 is expected to have new voice navigation, maps application and certainly Cloud/MobileMe/iWork/iLife integration, and updated notifications.

iPhone hacker MuscluNerd tweeted some recent news regarding iPhone iOS 4.2.1 unlock.

Current i4 unlock goal includes til 04.10.01 (4.3b3). Very weird situation...vuln cmds are there, trying to invoke them!

ironically, the i4 unlock search has yielded 05.14 & 05.15 unlock 3G/3GS vectors... but i4 is 1st priority

Not much, but we see that the work is in progress. They have found necessary vulnerabilities and their target is even higher - iOS 4.3 (baseband 04.10.01). As a background effect they also might be able to unlock 05.14 and 05.15 basebands, so there might be a reason right now not to update baseband to version 06.15.
