Apple to Launch 'iPad HD' This Fall

iphone_4_ipad_2_black_white

There have appeared new rumours about a higher-resolution iPad. The iPad HD will be launched later this year and will be sold alongside the iPad 2. The device was developed for pro-users in the video and photo-industries. There will be also launched the iPad-versions of pro-level apps such as Final Cut Pro or Aperture.

Our sources are saying that not only will there be a newly designed iPhone coming in the fall, but there is going to be a new entry into the iPad family as well. As hard as it might be to believe, the new tablet is said to sport a double resolution screen (2048 x 1536), and will be dubbed the "iPad HD." The idea behind the product is apparently that it will be a "pro" device aimed at a higher end market - folks who work in video and photo production possibly - and will be introduced alongside something like an iPad version of Final Cut or Aperture. This product is specifically said to not be the iPad 3, rather a complimentary piece of the iPad 2 line.

Apple Set To Renovate The New York SoHo Store

photo_soho

Apple is going to renovate its SoHo store to increase its space in the next three months. This step is necessary because the SoHo store, opened in 2002, is the smallest Apple Store within Manhattan and it scarcely accommodates the thousands of customers every day. During the renovations, the SoHo Apple store will be relocated to a temporary location. There is no information about what exactly location Apple chose but it obviously will be somewhere within Manhattan. The renovations will apparently include reconfiguration of the first floor, but the glass staircase that was the first one in Apple’s store, won’t be changed.

iPhone 5 To Feature Dual-LED Flash

iPhone-Camera

Digitimes reports that the upcoming iPhone 5 set for a September might be released with a new dual-LED flash system. The article is citing Taiwan-based companies Everlight Electronics, Edison Opto and Lite-On Technology that are the potential suppliers for the new Flash sensors.

Everlight and Lite-On have strengthened their deployments in the smartphone market for a while, with their products already being shipped to the supply chains of brand-name handset vendors, said industry sources. Edison, which is specialized in the production of high-power LEDs, has begun shipping its LED flash products to branded handset vendors and therefore has a high chance of winning dual-LED flash orders from Apple, the sources noted.

Mac OS X Lion Round Up

lion

Mac OS X is almost 10 years, but it still continues to evolve and as Phillip Schiller claims "not because of hardware, but because of software."  During yesterdays keynote Apple unveiled only ten of 250 new features in Mac OS X Lion. Some of the new features include Windows Migration Assistant, a new version of FileVault, built-in FaceTime and more.

Lion will be available only through App Store as a 4 GB download for $29.99. So you pay ones and may install the new software on all your machines. Little bit strange but App did announce an exact date of MacOS X Lion release.

"New" features that were announced during keynote, include:

Leaked Photo of iOS 5

TechCrunch has posted a new rumor photo of iOS 5. It shows integrated into the iOS status bar Twitter notifications. We have heard rumors saying that Twitter will be tightly integrated into new iOS 5.

Again, no clue if it’s actually real or not, but the idea might be right. Notifications that come down from the top bar could be how Apple ends up doing things in iOS 5. After all, this would mimic already existing functionality — when tethering, a blue strip appears along the top; when on the phone, it’s a green strip. Might notifications (or at least Twitter notifications) produce a gray strip?

iOS 5 will be announced today at WWDC.

OS X Lion To Be Offer iCloud Features for Free

Mac-OS-X-Lion

AppleInsider reports that its sources familiar with Apple’s plans claim that this summer the company will offer some iCloud features and services for free for users who will upgrade to Mac OS X Lion. According to recent rumors, iCloud will replace MobileMe.

People familiar with Apple’s plans indicated to AppleInsider that at least one of those secrets is expected to be that at least some of the services included in iCloud will be offered for free to Mac users who make the upgrade to Lion. iCloud is expected to replace the company’s existing MobileMe service, which offers e-mail and remote file storage, along with syncing of bookmarks, contacts and calendar events, at a price tag of $99 per year. That price tag may remain for users who do not make the upgrade to Lion, or for Windows users. But it is expected that the cloud services will become free to Mac users who run the latest version of Mac OS X.

New Apple Stores Set To Open In Florence and Madrid

Puerta-del-Sol

ifoAppleStore is today reporting on two new Apple stores in Spain and Italy that are currently undergoing construction. The new Italy store is expected to be opened in Florence. Based on documents, the stores construction will be completed in August, suggesting an early September opening. The second Apple store is  in Spain, set to be a spectacle, occupying all seven levels of the historic building in Madrid, overlooking the large city plaza (pictured above). The historic 1863 building is currently being restored and renovated. The retail store is then expected to operate on at least two levels and the basement. As for the other levels, ifoAppleStore speculates that they may be used as administrative offices for Apple, meeting rooms or training space. Madrid’s mayor revealed the plans last week when he confirmed to reporters that Apple was leasing the entire building. The store will most likely open early next year, with significant construction work still to be completed.
