Apple Patents Innovative iPhone Fall Protection System





Apple on Tuesday was granted a patent for an innovative and quite futuristic iPhone fall protection system that can recognize when the handset is dropped and shift its center of gravity to avoid serious damage. The Patent No. 8.903.519 entitled "Protective mechanism for an electronic device” describes how such a system may be created and added to the next-generations of Apple handsets.

iPad Air Plus or iPad Pro Physical Mockup Appears Online



As you probably know, the guys from Cupertino are currently working on the new iPad with a massive 12.9-inch or 12.2-inch display. The device is expected to get the name of "iPad Pro" or "iPad Air Plus". According the leaked schematics published on the Internet last week, the long-anticipated tablet will boast of the dimensions of 305.31mm x 220.8mm x 7mm.

Today a new video appeared online. In the short clip you may see a physical mockup of the device compared to Apple's iPhones, iPads and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The video is available below, take a look.

MuscleNerd Confirms TaiG Jailbreak for iOS 8.1.1 is Safe



MuscleNerd, a respected hacker in the jailbreak community, has confirmed via twitter that the TaiG iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak is safe.

Nothing too unsettling with that TaiG JB...just some light device fingerprinting. To see that, create an empty debuglog.cfg file next…
to the exe file. From then on, when you run the tool it'll log the urls accessed in a log/.log file.

Untethered Jailbreak of iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.2 Beta Released



An untethered jailbreak of iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.2 beta firmwares has just been released by TaiG. It also works for iOS 8.0 and iOS 8.1.

MuscleNerd confirmed the jailbreak over Twitter; however, he warns that you should probably wait a couple days before attempting.

Looks like TaiG just released a jailbreak for 8.1.1 (and 8.0,8.1,8.2beta). Best to wait a few days just in case

TaiG was part of the controversial iOS 7 jailbreak from the Evad3rs. The jaibreak included the TaiG 'app store' for cracked apps by default in China. Following an outcry from the community the evad3rs responded by updating their jailbreak tool to remove TaiG.

U.S. President Signs E-Label Act Turning It into Law



President Obama has recently signed the E-Label Act, which would allow Apple and other companies not to place Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification stamps on back panels of smartphones and tablets. Instead of doing so, vendors would get the right to include the information about the certification into their software.

According to the latest reports from supply chain insiders, Apple has recently decided to make Samsung one of its major hardware suppliers. I'm now talking not only about the chips for next generations of iPhones and iPads. As noted by BusinessKorea, the guys from Cupertino plan to use Samsung as a primary components manufacturer for the long-anticipated Apple Watch as well. This indicates that Apple will soon once again become extremely dependent on its market rival from South Korea.

World Tablet Sales to See Decrease This Year - Analysts



According to the latest report from a research firm called International Data Corporation (IDC), world's tablet market is expected to see a noticeable decline this year. In particular, the experts claim the year-over-year growth will be equal to only 7.2%, down from 52.5% in the last year. In general, world's tablet sales in 2014 will account for 235.7 units shipped.

Apple Releases Two New iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Ads



Following the release of Microsoft's ad mocking Apple and its virtual assistant called Siri, the guys from Cupertino published two own ads, which tell us about the recently-released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as about their gaming capabilities and the ability to use both handsets to make calls from iOS and OS X devices. Like all the previous iPhone 6 and 6 Plus ads, these are voiced by Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake, who talk about the advantages of using Apple's handsets. Apple's A8 Chip Supports 4K Video Playback?



According to the latest reports from people familiar with the matter, the A8 chip found inside of Apple's latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is capable of playing 4K video. And that is rather strange, I must admit, as the aforementioned devices have a display resolution of "only" 1334 x 750 and 1920 x 1080 pixels respectively. The support of ultra high-definition video has been discovered by developers who created a popular Mac app called WALTR.

iOS 8.1.1 Slightly Improves Performance of iPhone 4S and iPad 2



As you probably know, after the release of iOS 8 back in September, many iPhone 4S users began reporting various performance issues. On Monday, Apple released iOS 8.1.1, which, according to the release notes, was expected to improve performance on older devices, namely, the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2. As noted by the researchers from Ars Technica, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system does improve the stability and performance of the older handsets and tablets, however, only slightly. Moreover, average users are very unlikely to notice these improvements as nearly all the build-in apps still work slower than that of iOS 7.

Foxconn to Invest $2.6 Billion into Display Factory Capable of Producing Screens for Apple



According to what people familiar with the matter say, Foxconn will invest $2.6 billion in the construction of the new plant capable of producing displays exclusively for Apple. The new factory will be reportedly build in Southern Taiwan by Foxconn-owned firm called Innolux. Company's executives decided to invest such a large sum of money into construction after the guys from Cupertino made a very "urgent" request.

Apple to Integrate Beats Music in iOS?



According to the latest report from the Financial Times, the guys from Cupertino are currently planning to incorporate the recently-acquired music streaming service called Beats Music in iOS as soon as early next year. Building such an app directly into the mobile operating system will allow to lure new iPhone and iPad customers, make the service more popular and compete with the rivals, for example, with Spotify, on equal terms. Looks like the beginning of 2015 will be full of events.
