Apple Releases Second iOS 8.4 Beta to Developers for Testing





Apple has just released the second beta of iOS 8.4 to developers for testing. The release came less than two weeks after the release of the very first iOS 8.4 beta, which could boast of a completely redesigned Music app with lots of new tweaks as well as a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. According to the release notes, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system features only some minor stability enhancements. As to the new features, the developers haven't yet noticed any. I will let you know if they find anything new.

App Store for Apple Watch Goes Live [Images]



Last year, during the official media event devoted to Apple's first-ever wearable gadget called the Apple Watch, Apple CEO Tim Cook and other company executives promised that the smartwatch will not only run its own special modification of iOS, but also will boast its own App Store with applications designed for this new device. Looks like they kept their word as the new repository began to work on Friday.

Apple to Add New Features to Force Touch in Future?



According to a new patent application published earlier today, Apple’s Force Touch technology may be improved in future to allow users’ fingers to “feel” different textures, for example, wood or metal. Looks like the guys from Cupertino plan to add a special hardware component capable of simulating the surface of a certain material using different vibrations and temperatures. Frankly speaking, currently I don’t understand the purpose of creating such a technology, however, Apple will surely find a good application for it.

AU Optronics to Produce Display Panels for iPhone - Rumor



According to the latest rumors, a firm called AU Optronics (AUO) will supply Apple with 4-inch, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display panels for the next generation of iPhones. Although both Apple and AU Optronics refused to comment on the issue, the rumor actually looks quite plausible as the guys from Cupertino need an additional supplier to avoid supply constraints.

Apple Pay Now Supports About 30 New Financial Institutions in the USA



According to the latest reports from reliable sources, Apple has recently added the support of about 30 new banks and financial institutions from the USA to its Apple Pay system. Currently, the total number of Apple Pay partners in this country exceeds 200 banks and credit unions. The growing number of large and small retailers, cafes, restaurants and financial institutions supporting the NFC-based mobile payments service indicates that Apple has created a truly convenient way to pay for goods and services.

Google No Longer Supports YouTube App on Old iOS Devices and Apple TVs



Google on Monday announced that it will no longer support YouTube app on older Apple devices, namely, iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches with iOS 6 or any other earlier version of Apple’s mobile operating system on board. Apart from that, both first and second generation Apple TV users will be unable to access YouTube using their set-top boxes.

iMac Shipping Estimates Improve to 3-5 Days in the USA



According to what can be seen at the U.S. Apple Online Store, the shipping estimates for all the 21.5-inch iMac models apart from the entry-level one, which is the cheapest, have recently slipped to 3-5 business days. This indicates that the guys from Cupertino do their best to catch up with the demand for this device. I wish they had the same situation with their Apple Watch, which is currently constrained.

It is Possible to Jailbreak iOS 8.4 [Video]



Apple has recently released the very first iOS 8.4 beta to developers for testing. This version of Apple’s mobile operating system can boast of a number of important bug fixes as well as stability and performance improvements. Apart from that, looks like it is possible to jailbreak this beta. Well, at least Stefan Esser aka i0n1c has managed to accomplish this task. Suppliers in Brazil and Vietnam Now Produce Cables for Apple



As you probably know, Apple suppliers responsible for manufacture of all kinds of cables, chargers and things like that used to be located only in China. According to the updated support page created to help customers recognize Apple’s certified products among the extensive amount of counterfeit ones, the production of authorized accessories for iPhones, iPads and Macs has been recently moved to Vietnam and Brazil. This means that currently Apple has partners in at least three countries, namely, China, Vietnam and Brazil.

Apple to Launch Apple Pay in Canada in November?



According to the latest report shared by The Wall Street Journal, Apple is planning to launch Apple Pay in Canada as soon as in November. The reporters claim the guys from Cupertino are currently in talks with six major Canadian banks about the possible launch of the NFC-based payments system in the near future.

Supplemental Update for OS X 10.10.3 Is Now Available for All Users



As you probably know, Apple’s OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 was officially released to users worldwide on April 8th. Following this release, the guys from Cupertino on Thursday made the so-called supplemental update for OS X 10.10.3 available for download. According to the release notes, this update can boast of a fix for the bug in the video driver, which made it difficult or impossible for Mac to start up when running certain applications created to capture video.

About 200 Samsung Employees Are Working Exclusively on Displays for Apple Devices



According to the latest report from Bloomberg, Samsung has earlier this month formed a separate team, which will be responsible for the development and manufacture of displays specifically for Apple’s iPads and MacBooks. Although Samsung is not the first company that has a special department dedicated to supplying Apple with various components (LG also has one), such a step shows that not only Apple is dependent from its main market rival.

Apple Acquires Israeli Firm Called LinX Imaging



According to the latest report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple has recently purchased an  Israeli camera technology called LinX Imaging. The sum of acquisition is equal to about $20 million, the reporters claim. Looks like the guys from Cupertino have decided to improve the cameras found in their iOS devices. Unlike most device manufacturers, Apple plans not to simply increase the number of megapixels, but to work on the quality of the lenses and photo sensors in general. LinX Imaging will surely help Apple to accomplish such an ambitious task as it has developed a number of technologies specifically for making the quality of images taken with a smartphone camera better.

Apple Indeed Sold 1 Million Apple Watch Units on April 10th, Analysts Claim



According to the latest report from a research firm Slice Intelligence, Apple received nearly 1 million of pre-orders on April 10th in the USA. This is probably the main reason for shipping estimates for all smartwatch models to slip to June and even July.
