Apple Gets Patent for Brand New Mac Keyboard





Apple on Thursday was granted a patent for “Method and Apparatus for Localization of “Haptic Feedback”. In other words, this is the document, which describes a brand new type of a Mac keyboard with a touch-sensitive flat surface similar to the one Magic Trackpad has. Physical keys on this keyboard are replaced with virtual ones. Their work is based on the technology nearly identical to Force Touch that debuted in the Apple Watch and the trackpad of Apple’s new 12-inch MacBook.

TAG Heuer Partners with Google and Intel to Produce Apple Watch Rival



A well-known watchmaker from Switzerland called TAG Heuer has recently announced its partnership with Google and Intel aimed at creation of the new high-end and luxury smartwatch. This smartwatch will reportedly have Android Wear on board and will be released at the very end of 2015. As you might have guessed, this wearable device will become the main rival of the Apple Watch, which will be released this April.

iOS 8 Adoption Rate Reaches 77% - Apple



According to the official data shared by Apple, iOS 8 adoption rate reached 77% on March 16th. The adoption rate has increased 2% over the last two weeks. One possible reason for such an increase is the release of iOS 8.2, which can boast of a number of important stability and performance improvements as well the support of the long-anticipated Apple Watch, which is expected to hit the store shelves in April.

Apple Releases Safari 8.0.4, 7.1.4 and 6.2.4 with Fixes for WebKit



Just one day after the release of the fourth beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 to developers and public beta testers, Apple made three security updates for its browser. Safari 8.0.4, Safari 7.1.4, and Safari 6.2.4 are available for OS X Yosemite, Mavericks, and Mountain Lion respectively and contain fixes for WebKit.

Apple Pay Now Supports 30 New Financial Institutions



As you probably know, the guys from Cupertino launched their own mobile payments system last year. This system is called Apple Pay; it is based on the Near Field Communication technology and it uses the Touch ID fingerprint sensor to secure each payment. The only drawback is that the service is currently available only in the USA. According to the latest shared by people familiar with the matter, Apple has recently added the support of 30 new banks and credit institutions to its payments system. From now on, Apple Pay works with Charles Schwab Bank, RBC Bank and several other large financial organizations located in the USA.

Apple Releases OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Beta 4 to Developers and Public Testers



Apple on Monday seeded the fourth beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 to registered developers and public beta testers. The release came only a couple of days after the release of the third OS X 10.10.3 beta and nearly a month after the release of the very first beta of this version of Apple’s operating system for desktops.

Apple Watch Edition: Apple's New Marketing Tool?



Last week, apart from the relatively cheap Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport, the guys from Cupertino have also announced something called Apple Watch Edition - a luxurious and incredibly expensive timepiece with several additional features for geeks. The prices for this version of the smartwatch start from about $10.000, so it is a bit strange Apple has released such a costly wearable device. Or not?

Apple to Open Apple Watch Store in Japan Soon - Insiders



According to the latest rumors shared by reliable insiders, Apple has recently begun the construction of a store designed to sell Apple Watches in Japan. The dedicated store will be situated at Department Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo. After looking at the image below, one may think its only a temporary location aimed at advertising the recently-released wearable device, but in fact it’s not. It is listed in the mall directory, moreover, there’s a new Apple Watch ad on the mall’s website. Everything looks serious.

Cortana to Debut on iOS and Android Devices Later This Year?



According to the latest report from Reuters, Apple’s rival, Microsoft, is currently planning to make the updated version of its personal assistant called Cortana available not only on Windows Phone platform, but also on iOS and Android. Unlike the Siri and Google Now, the virtual assistant developed by the guys from Redmond won’t just respond to user’s requests. It will reportedly predict the help user may need.

Apple Invented USC Type C Alone - John Gruber



Last Monday, at the “Spring Forward” media event the guys from Cupertino announced the Apple Watch and the 12-inch MacBook. What is interesting about the new laptop is that it can boast of a brand new multifunctional USB connector called USB C. According to what the analyst John Gruber revealed in his latest podcast, Apple may actually be the inventor of the new standard, which is USB Type C.

Here's How Apple Watch Companion App for iPhone Looks Like [Images]



As you probably know, Apple’s iOS 8.2 can boast of one special app. This is the Apple Watch companion, which can be used to fine tune the wearable device and control it from the iPhone. So far, we haven’t seen the design and features of this useful app, however, thanks to iOS developer Hamza Sood we can now take a look at how the smartwatch companion looks like after one connects the Apple Watch to it.

To be honest, the app looks quite similar to the Settings tab found in iOS. There are numerous sections responsible for app layout, notifications, sounds and many other things. You can take a look at the aforementioned app screenshots below.

Apple Launches iOS 8.3 Public Beta Testing Program



Just as we expected, Apple has recently launched iOS 8.3 public beta testing program. This means that the pre-release version of iOS 8.3 is now available for all those users, who have registered as members of the public testing program. While the guys from Cupertino have released several public OS X betas in the past, they have never offered public access to the pre-release iOS builds.

Apple Releases Third OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Beta to Developers

13-inch MacBook Air SSD is Faster than 11-inch MacBook Air SSD



As you already know, Apple on Monday released slightly refreshed 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models. While both laptops got the same processor and graphics, the larger-screened model was also equipped with a new flash storage that is said to be "up to two times faster" than the flash storage inside of the 11-inch device. iFixit team decided to find out, whether the guys from Cupertino told us the truth about the speed of the SSD.
