Apple to Investigate Inconsistent MacBook Pro Battery Life Reported by Consumer Reports

Earlier this week, independent testers from Consumer Reports tested the new MacBook Pro and found out that the laptop is very unpredictable in terms of battery life. According to the controversial results, the MacBook Pro battery life varies from 4.5 to nearly 19,5 hours. This has become the reason for not including the notebook to the Consumer Reports’ list of recommended devices for the first time in a couple of years. The results seem to be strange, so Apple’s SVP Phil Schiller claimed the company is investigating the issue.

Phil Schiller Explains Why There's No 32GB of RAM on New MacBook Pro

Phil Schiller has once again confirmed that using 32GB of RAM would affect the battery life of new MacBook Pro units. According to Apple executive, using more memory would require a different design of the logic board and physically smaller battery. Apart from that, since the 32GB DDR module requires much more power than the current LPDDR memory, there’s no way to install it without reducing the battery life and performance of the laptop.

New MacBook Pro Can’t Get More than 16GB of RAM

The new MacBook Pro can only be upgraded to 16GB of RAM. The reason to think so was the fact that Apple did not announce a model with higher RAM capacity during its “Hello Again” event this Thursday. Today, Apple’s SVP Phil Schiller confirmed that 16GB is the maximum RAM amount one can get on the MacBook Pro. You can’t go beyond that due to battery life concerns.

iPhone LTE Speed Test: iPhone 6 vs. iPhone 5s [Video]

Apple claims the iPhone 6 has 'Faster LTE': "With faster LTE — up to 150 Mbps — iPhone 6 users can experience faster download and upload speeds for browsing the web, streaming music, making video calls, and more." During the iPhone 6 keynote, Apple SVP Phil Schiller revealed that these speeds are possible through a technology called carrier aggregation. The new iPhone 6 uses Qualcomm MDM9625M LTE Category 4 modem chip which offers up to 150 Mbps downlink data rates and 50 Mbps uplink data rates. Let's take a look if this is actually any faster than the previous iPhone 5S.

iClarified did a quick test. They have found the spot with the absolute best reception possible. Testing was done late at night, when network usage is lower. The speeds are actually amazing.

iPhone 6 showed 100 Mbps download speed and 35 Mbps upload, while iPhone 5S - 35 Mbps and 15 Mbps respectively.  Impressive, isn't it.

Phil Schiller Confirmed iPad Mini Carries Stereo Speakers

Diagram from the iPad mini tech specification page

It seems that iPad mini launch this Friday will mark the first time an iOS device includes stereo speakers.
